But rather than housewives, we hear casting is leaning more towards “boss babes”, women with their own business footprint, as the fresh stars of the reboot.
The net has been cast wide around town over recent months with some of those sounded out about the show, including Runway Room founder Alex Fevola, former Yummy Mummies star Lorinska Merrington, Victoria Curtis, founder of Victoria Curtis Cosmetics, and Bianca and Bridgett Roccisano, the founders of Booby Tape – known as “the breast lift in a box”.
ITV, the production company appointed just weeks ago by Foxtel after a competitive pitch process to make the show, put out a crew call on Tuesday for a “Melbourne-based reality” show with roles available across “multiple departments.”
The production dates were listed as “late 2026 to early 2027”, meaning that while Real Housewives will begin filming this year, it will not be on air until next year.
It is sounding like Gina is the only original cast member to be pretty much locked in. Some other originals may still be in consideration but there will likely be many new faces.
I have heard off the grapevine that the cast is almost locked in and some test shooting has started to finalise the cast. It sounds like the season will be filmed over the coming months.
There will be a few new faces but Gina isn’t the only original being considered. Jackie has apparently also been in talks to potentially return. I’m not sure of anyone else but they always seemed like the most likely ones that would come back.
According to Page 13 column in today’s Herald Sun, the ladies who have made the shortlist include Gina Liano, Loriska Merrington (Yummy Mummies), Melbourne dentist Amy Tossoun, Booby Tape founders and sisters Bridgett and Bianca Roccisano, and cosmetic nurse Alex Pike (girlfriend of former Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley).
I can’t read the article but you mentioned 6 names. That can’t be an entire shortlist because there will be at least 6 Housewives. Either that’s the final cast or there are some other names in the mix too (I’ve heard Jackie).
“And while Gina’s return is just the beginning, we’ve got plenty more fabulous new and returning faces still to reveal. The Housewives are back, Melbourne, and we can’t wait to see what unfolds.”
For Liano, returning to reality television also means juggling filming again with a legal career that never went away.
Asked how she plans to balance life as a Housewife with her work as a barrister, Liano said the formula hasn’t changed.
“Just how I’ve done it always.
“I’ve done four seasons before, and I’ve worked full-time as a barrister pretty much. And I’m a celebrant now as well, so I have lots of booked and just a day at a time.”
Glad RHOM is coming back, especially with Gina, she brings the drama. It’s a shame Sydney has once again not worked out. The cast always seems to be so messy, but entertaining!
