The Real Housewives of Melbourne/Sydney

See I saw this very differently. I feel like this became a very unfair gang up mostly on Kate.

Now I’m not a big Kate fan. Initially I liked her but went off her a bit as the season went on and didn’t like the way she spoke at times (even at the reunion). However at the end of the day, Krissy did insult her multiple times from the very beginning - calling her an onion with no layers, a moaning lisa, debbie downer and joked that she may be a lesbian. That is being a mean girl and seems to have lead to Kate being very defensive.

There was even an admission last night that the whole Tokyo issue was not about being late (and at best it was a misunderstanding). Whilst we didn’t get a clear answer, it definitely came across that the other girls were jealous of (or didn’t understand) Terry’s friendship with Kate which was the real issue. It’s all very high school IMO.

Victoria’s behavior in the reunion was atrocious too. Multiple times she was butting in to defend situations that she wasn’t even there for. Even when they started playing the tape about the Nicole/Terry argument, she made a comment that this shouldn’t be discussed because Nicole wasn’t there to defend herself which I thought was quite ridiculous.

Then the whole Caroline vs Kate thing felt very much like she’d had Victoria/Krissy/Nicole in her ear too. A couple of times Victoria was murmuring comments to her to speak up about certain things. I just thought that front from a few of the girls constantly banding together was very off putting.

Joel Creasey was not a very good host, Andy Cohen he isn’t! Didn’t like Alex Perry either. Surely Foxtel/Binge can find someone better for hosting duties. Joel was too much of a fan boi! He needed to insert himself more and ask a few hard hitting questions. He might be a good comedian but I dislike his hosting on this and Eurovision where he does the fan boi thing too.

Really enjoyed Caroline calling out Kate. Terry was as false and plastic as she was in the series.

Agreed, so many issues left unresolved.

You would normally allow the conversation to end then edit in post.

It felt like they were trying to film a live show.

You need someone who can think quick, but also invested enough in the show (Perry was not). Either a journalist, or someone with a skill set like Gretel Killeen, being able to steer conversation, but also handle when it doesn’t go according to plan.

Also the whole Jonathan Moran segment was appalling for international viewers, he looked like a creepy fan. You could have easily done the same segment with a producer feeding questions (and cutting the questions in edit).

This season was well cast, and overall they did a brilliant job. Current US productions have 8-12 months in post production, this was turned around in a matter of weeks.

Agree, the intro was weird.

The whole thing felt rushed, at one point Joel tries to move on and I think it was Terry who was like “hold on, we’re not done”

Not opposed to seeing a bit more of the raw side of the taping, but letting conversations play out is what we want to see… anything unnecessary can be edited out.

Also agree that Joel is not quite right, a bit sassy and quick with some retorts but doesn’t quite add much. Maybe someone like Osher?

I was happy they did it in the end after believing they wouldn’t, but a bit underwhelmed at the same time. I had it on while I was working and felt like I didn’t miss much.

Surely we’ll see another season next year.

Do we think that there will be another season of RHOM in the near future?

After rewatching the five seasons, the S2-3 cast were great. Full of everything.

Joel seemed to approach the reunion as a fan and lacks the skills required to draw out more information and reactions.

He seems to have changed a lot since he was last on tv.

Too used to being on radio / podcasts?

As I mentioned, I think being a comedian he’s used to having an audience to feed from… without that his delivery feels a lot flatter.

Interviewing doesn’t seem to be a particularly strong point of his either.

I don’t believe there is enough budget to produce two series domestically at the moment. However it would be great if they did, casting would still be a challenge though for Melbourne, I think Gold Coast would be next, the sizzle reel produced earlier this year got better than expected feedback (if I had a say in casting Id also include Janet Roach who spends 3-4 months of the year on the GC to bridge the two together)…

A second season of RHOS should commence filming in Q1 2024 thanks to international sales.

“Allegedly”

Cameras are back up next month. 10-12 Episodes.

All cast options picked up, no one new on contract but could change during filming.

According to Sunday Herald Sun’s Fiona Byrne, Foxtel is considering bringing back Real Housewives of Melbourne. However, the rumour is that if the show were to be commissioned for another season, the older cast members would be replaced with a new generation of younger housewives with only a couple of the heritage cast.

It was basically like that last season with only three returning.

I’m glad that it sounds like they are jumping onto another Sydney season quickly. I heard that it did quite well and it’s good to get onto it whilst the drama and friction amongst the cast is still fresh. I don’t see a need to change up the cast too much either based on where things left off.

As for Melbourne - I’m in two minds about it. If they bring back 2 OGs I just hope it’s not Janet/Jackie. Give me Gina, Lydia or Chyka!

Gina and Lydia for sure, Janet doesn’t really add much nor does gamble.

The Sunday Telegraph reports The Real Housewives of Sydney has been renewed for a third season, with filming to start in April, with a new EP, production team and potential cast changes. Rumours suggest Terry Biviano is reluctant to return, while former Miss Australia Nicole Gazal could be dropped after failing to turn up in the season two reunion last year. And Kate Champion, the wife of Laser Clinics Australia co-founder Alistair Champion, is being pushed by pals to sign up for the show.

Well given it was revealed that her “family commitment” was her daughter’s school formal the night before the filming of the reunion, it’s pretty obvious that she was making up an excuse to avoid it. I’d be happy to see her go. They need to break up the Krissy/Nicole/Victoria clique and she is the least interesting of the 3 IMO. Terry on the other hand would be a big loss if she didn’t come back.

Hopefully filming in April means we don’t have multiple housewives jetting off for Europe trips again in the middle of the season…

News Corp reports the Real Housewives of Sydney bosses are closer to deciding on their final cast for the next season, with the field narrowed to seven. Apparently two or three “originals” are set to get the boot.

What do they mean by originals? (sorry can’t read behind the pay wall). The only original Sydney cast members on the recent season were Krissy and Nicole.

The Sunday Telegraph reports today that Nicole is the only one not to receive a contract for season 3. The article says that while Nicole is telling friends and family she did not want to appear in the next season, it is believed producers were so frustrated by her antics last season, they have not asked her back. It is believed all other cast members from season 3 have received contracts but it is not yet known if they decide to sign on.

The article also says that the candidates being considered for season 4 are now down to three: Laser Clinics Australia owner Linda Rogan, eastern suburbs mum Jacquie Blaze (who went to Taylor Swift Eras Tour concert in Sydney with Terry and Kate) and jeweller Heidi Onisforou.

Her antics? What antics?
