The Project đŸȘŠ

Feels more like email newsletters or Substack updates than podcast, which seems to be where the US news presenters are heading after leaving news channels nowadays.

Probably.
On another note, whoever the social media admin is, they’re a legend.

that still feels a little empty

Some news posts and some (very funny) social media posts feel like it’s not enough to sustain interest long term.

I still think (and am almost half-expecting) a podcast reboot or something.

The socials will possibly be an income stream in itself and if Roving rather than 10 have control of them they might as well utilise them. It’s still been less than a week since it ended anyhow.

Don’t get any ideas from this from another failed experiment

The 6:57 Project.

Feels like someone just can’t accept that the shows finished

(and before you start doing a Jim Carrey behind the keyboard, I had no issues with the program) :face_with_tongue:

Isn’t it also wildly rumoured big brother is only for 4 weeks?

I think the 4 week thing has just been misinterpreted based on the casting notice for crew, which said from early November to early December - probably as a rough guide, and no way confirmation of how long they plan to air the rebooted season.

Interesting quote from Rove “I don’t know if I’m still paying for this, but I’m all for it".

Doesn’t really answer the question of whether the person is actually still employed and being paid by Roving to keep running the accounts, but they seem to suggest they’re just doing it because they’re bored and unemployed and still have access to the account.

of course he knows.

Its Kieran Simpson the former head of digital for the show. He was on the game changers radio podcast this week and mentioned that he still had access to the accounts after the show ended so has continued on with things, Roving are aware as they own it.

After a break last week, the Instagram account is now posting several posts every day. It’s as if The Project is still running.

Yep as per the 4 days ago post seems someone still on the payroll is doing it. Maybe they are shopping the format around?

RE shopping the format

Who would take it?

7 & 9 have well established evening line ups (maybe 7 consider it if they ever replace H&A or move it from 7pm but that’s unlikely - even then I don’t think it’s a network fit)

ABC could consider they want a solid early evening format (over Antiques & Hard Quiz reruns), but is that a demo and vibe they would consider?

Why go to the expense of making a TV show when you can employ 1-2 people and make money via social media?

ABC would not have anywhere near the budget for it. They axed The Drum from that timeslot which arguably cost a lot less!

Weekly show though
. Replace The Weekly?

The Weekly is already doing much of what The Project did anyway
comedians/news/celeb interviews. Probably no real gain to be made.

Cost may be less though? I doubt it’s got government rebates allowed as part of the production funding anymore. Charlie would be on a handsome salary as well
.
“The Wrap” (but the project) looking at a weekly wrap would then be able to be a new slate.
