What are they on about?

Who said anything about an announcement happening tonight?

And why would the C Team make such an announcement?

Odd article.

Yes. If they were going to address or announce anything you would expect this Sunday or even Monday. Hopefully 10 gives the show a proper send off if it’s going.

News.com.au is almost as bad as TheDailyFail. Their FB page posted several articles in the last 24 hours (mostly the same articles with no new info), and their comments were 100 times worse than those in here. And most didn’t even bother reading the articles itself.

Agree - why on earth would they announce the ā€œaxingā€ tonight, when it is indeed the C Team. They’ll address it, if needed, on Sunday or Monday. And will keep it brief.

I’ve heard staff were told today in a roundabout way the show was ending shortly.

The new show will be Australian Content so 10 will still have a portion of it’s quotas lost by The Project’s axing covered by this.

Does content from Paramount that is having it’s first FTA airing count as local content? In which case, I can see 10 trying to use a bit more of this to fill gaps for local content.

I do hope that some of the presenters on the show get picked up elsewhere, either on other 10 projects, or somewhere else in the industry - they’ve got some great talent, including Sarah and Georgie.

Hopefully 10 can also find other roles for behind the scenes staff where possible, whether that be on the new show or on another show.

I hope all the staff that are about to be made redundant find secure positions in their field of work.

This BBC News Live concept seems very interesting
Imagine if 10 were bold like they have been in the past and did something like this.
There is enough real news going on in the world for content.
The Project hosts could all be given their own 3 hr stint and use State hosts and you have a good variety of skills and an opportunity to develop a pool of future talent.

Does project repeats count as Australian content?

If so project and neighbours leaving is 2.5 hours of aussie content a day 10 needs to replace

The issue is nobody turns to 10 for news. That ship sailed many years ago, self inflicted. They can’t turn that issue around, if anything they need to just run with one national bulletin and that’s it, ratings have bottomed out for the state editions to incredibly low numbers. Turning a 40k bulletin into 50k isn’t a success.

I somewhat think this is also about ripping out cost. They have just gone and hired some key figures, I’d say there will be casualties for that, doesn’t sound like they are simply a new business expense, the total removal of this show will likely pull out millions.

Yes. Of course repeats count as Australian content and Neighbours is also repeated at 7am.

The Aussie content requirement is one of the reasons all their shows are repeated on 10 during the day Deal or No Deal, Good Chef Bad Chef, Masterchef etc.

Also, the reason these shows are on 10 Peach Comedy when they are not comedies. They don’t have enough Aussie comedies to fill the requirements. Neighbours and the cooking shows are screened twice on 10 Peach too. And 10 Bold Drama has repeats of other lifestyle shows like Buy to Build and Pat Callinan’s 4x4 Adventures.

So come end of the year, with no project and Neighbours (and all their repeats) they are looking at a massive deficit in Oz quota….which is why I think the project won’t be abandoned in its entirety and that they must have significant other plans in place to make up the hours.
I think it also guarantees that millionaire is going to be striped across the week to c become their second core game show.

Big Brother will fill most of that Aussie quota till the end of the year im assuming

It will be interesting to see what Sarah and Waleed in particular go on to do next.

I feel they will keep Sarah at least in the interim on the afternoon bulletins (allowing Angela Bishop to go back to entertainment full time) until Narelda Jacobs returns from extended leave.

Angela does the afternoon bulletins because she has nothing else to do.

Do we know if 10 even employs any of the The Project staff?
