The Project 🪦

Well, if it’s as good as seven news spotlight and 60 minutes I’m in.

Last time I checked Angela still does regular entertainment reports and travels overseas for events like she’s done for years even before she got presenting roles on Studio 10.

Yeah, I think you’re right. Wouldn’t be surprised if Sarah (and Waleed) part ways with 10 after the show goes. There’s just nothing for them to do.

She might get busy again having to cover all the entertainment news and celebrity interviews that currently go on The Project.

Doesn’t sound like the replacement current affairs show is going to pick up any of the lighter stuff.

I feel sorry for the guys BTS

It’s the industry. They know these jobs are never permanent. Shows get axed all the time. I know it’s sad for these people but it is what it is. You can’t just keep the show going just to keep its staff in work.

I can see Waleed doing radio on ABC Melbourne and Sarah moving to Seven or Nine.

Waleed already co-hosts a show on Radio National, so I can see him doing more stuff on there (i.e. another show, filling in on RN Breakfast)

I wouldn’t be surprised if they end up filing stories on the replacement show. What are 10 keeping with this change? The serious news elements of The Project and the types of stories and reports that are covered by Waleed, Sarah, and Hamish.

What are 10 dumping? The comedy (so the likes of Sam Taunton, Nick Cody, Suzie Youssef, Rove…), entertainment and sports (Georgie Tunny, Liz Ellis) and all the rotating opinion panellists (Steve Price, Rachel Corbet, etc.). Surely those are the people what 10 won’t have anything for them to do anymore?

The big question is: Will audiences switch over to a hard hitting current affairs program on 10 at 6.30pm, if they’re watching news from 6pm on 7 or 9?

Not sure abut the title: Behind the Lines. I think they may end up copping drug jokes. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Would Behind the Headlines be better?

Highly unlikely

Could Sarah Harris takeover from Davina’s duties on Nine’s Morning News and Sydney Arvo news??

WA to the ABC and SH to 7.

The staffing situation with the project would be varied. Some would be under network contracts (Sarah Harris most likely and maybe Waleed) and others directly contracted to Roving Enterprises and other freelance.

I think Sarah could easily move into newsreading.

Seven are planning a new national news programme from Melbourne. Might be worth pursuing Sarah?

She’s commuting to Melbourne for the project because she didn’t move down there as her kids are still school aged. It will depend if she can commit full time down in Melbourne

Could we see The Project be later evening fodder intertwined with news BUT made as an in-house production possibly a slightly different format- perhaps something in between The Project and The Panel - maybe a little bit like Graham Kennedys Coast To Coast without the comedy.

Exactly what I reckon is needed. Late night Project that can expand when needed to let the interviews finish naturally and not be rushed. Sunday, Monday Tuesday Wednesday late night project!

I would love The Project to remain late night. I’m surprised Roving isn’t pitching it. I think there’s a space for it there.

Maybe he did pitch it and it got knocked back?

@blackbox has already said that the show is done it’s done - it’s not moving timeslot or merging with other programs.
