The Project

Friday (07.05.2021): Nazeem Hussain and Liz Ellis joining Lisa and Peter on the desk tonight.

The contrast between the reaction to some of the stories was quite marked on Friday.

Was actually a fairly decent show Friday and the panel was pretty good. Liz was great and Nazeem was more bearable than usual.

I think Nazeem is finding his feet with the show. Sometimes he seems to be unsure about the reactions of his fellow panellists.

This is true for a lot of the newer comedians who have been on the show lately. They’re used to playing to an audience and getting an immediate reaction. Because there’s no audience at the moment and sometimes the panellists don’t react to the jokes, they end up looking a bit lost. The same happens with Claire Hooper.

Have been noticing things are much happier between Lisa Wilkinson and PVO lately. Like old times again. Tommy Little is back tonight and Jan Fran. :speak_no_evil:

Nick Tabakoff in The Australian is claiming that the ABC is allowing Hamish Macdonald to appear again on The Project in a bid to boost the ratings of Q&A.

I don’t usually pay these articles much attention, but The Project seems to be the pinnacle for ex Breakfast TV presenters from rival networks.

The line in particular seems to be made up, considering the source of the information.

According to New Idea magazine, Channel 10 is hoping to ‘entice’ Sam to front a new morning show to rival Sunrise and Nine’s Today show in 2022.

The proposed new breakfast show would either replace the network’s current morning program, Studio 10, or be a revamped version of it.

Wilkinson hasn’t made much of an impact, being mostly confined to the lower rating shows later in the week and on Sunday, and I think Armytage would be similarly in the shadow of Bickmore, Aly and Helliar.

I mean, only a ‘reputable’ news source such as The Daily Mail would ever think of concocting such a theory that someone like Sam Armytage would join The Project.

The story and surrounding speculation should keep members of this site happy for a few months. The talk around the timing of Kochie’s retirement was getting a bit stale. :grinning:

Its a shame that Melissa Doyle rumour didn’t happen. Now with Melissa Doyle and Sam Armytage now that would be a good combination.

Yeah nah. Dream on.

Does make you wonder, with all the high profile talent Ten has (not doing much at all) and the available talent out there (doing nothing at all) if a high profile morning show could finally get off the ground?!

And this is why I rarely watch this show. I used to watch the first half of Nine News then switch to The Project at 6:30. I can’t be bothered now as I know I’ll mostly be disappointed. It is still generally ok early in the week, but late in the week this program has become a wasteland.
