The Project

So much better having Dave Thornton and Max Rushden on the panel Friday than Rove and Michael Hing.

Why is Hughesy back? I feel like he tries too hard to get a laugh but the audience is not laughing.

Theres rumours they want rove to host the show a day or two weekly next year… however he has set conditions for the shows content to be less news based if that is to happen.

is it they want him to host episodes of The Project OR are they looking at developing a new show for him?

Sorry amended. A day of the project

Ugh!

Move on, channel 10. They need to find the next generation host/comedian. Not recycle an old one from 25 years ago.

I mean the other days are already hosted by next gen…

He has already been doing one day a week this year and that’s been too much. I really don’t like the way he hijacks the show and makes it about him.

I would prefer seeing more of Hamish McDonald or Max Rushden than Rove.

I’d love to see more of Max & Georgie hosting, they make it much more enjoyable to watch then the usual crew.

I agree it feels like a completely different show when he’s hosting, and not in a good way. He gets away with it on a Friday night episode but I don’t think his style would be suited to other days or days with serious news events.

Rove should be off the desk as host. He was good 20 years ago as a variety host. But his schmuck isn’t funny anymore. Saying a joke over 5 times an episode because one out of fifty audiemce members laughs isn’t a good look.

If Rove needs to be on the show, stick him to the very random celebrity interview over satellite. Once a fortnight, at best.

If Rove’s on the desk it shouldn’t be in the main hosting role filling in for Waleed or Hamish.
Rove’s role should be on the side as one of the guest hosts or comedians.

I really haven’t watched many episodes since the new team started. I’m talking about half a dozen. So, as an irregular viewer, I can’t speak with much experience and I am not really interested in the outcome.

However, the two I’ve seen with Rove hosting, I’ve enjoyed more than the rest. It depends what direction they want to take the show in. I think it needs to be much lighter, so Waleed and Hamish are too serious IMO. The journalists to comedians ratio needs a rethink. Tony Armstrong would be good, but his co-hosts have to be more fun.

To me, Rove is the Karl Stefanovic of Ten. And I am not saying as a compliment. As was said, he thinks he is funny, when in reality he isnt. I think her would be more suited to a morning style show over no more than 1 hour a day, because beyond that its way too much - and even then you would need a pleasant co-host to keep viewers there

From what I understand, Rove is increasingly difficult to work with on that show. Obviously he has a huge amount of sway but doesn’t love news and the news producers find it hard to work with him when he’s presenting as he’s very controlling on the content and delivery when he’s at the desk.

Clearly no one in this thread watches the show.
Rove has been the Friday host for a while now, and they take a less-newsy approach on Fridays.
He’s quite good on the Friday show imo.

Friday show should be the norm IMO - I quite like the dynamic that team has

I would love to see the ratings figures on the nights Rove hosts compared to the nights he doesnt as I personally find his presenting style as unwatchable. This goes back well before his presenting days on The Project. Even his What The? segments on Rove Live was unwatchable and in poor taste, I think anyone who has watched him in the past has a right to express an opinion. I personally think his want for control of the show comes back to short man syndrome
