Leigh Sales has said that she isn’t leaving the ABC. She will be back to do other projects after she has a rest.

You can’t be serious? The Project is very much light and frothy (maybe with the odd serious report thrown in), whereas Leigh Sales is very much (at least on paper) a serious heavyweight interviewer. They’d be a total mismatch for one another.

Leigh has her light side too. She does a podcast with Annabel Crabb, and IIRC she also did some sort of stand up show with Sam Mac. She’d be able to mix between light discussion and heavy news talk.

Sad, the Sunday Project has now adopted the new format of skipping the opener and panel intros, and going straight into the first story presented by 1 host standing in front of a screen. And the Sunday Project has a larger screen then the weekday show.

But tonight, The Project went back to the regular intro style. Is it because they had Calum Scott as a guest panelist and it would have seemed weird to have him pop up asking questions with no intro?

Maybe. Or maybe just do an Intro after a five second Opening Title and go straight into the first story.
I can understand that they might think that it is repetitive if they’re showing all the same stories in the Opening Titles that they showed in the last commercial break of the news as a Coming Up promo.
The most jarring thing about the cold opener is that people ask questions during the first interview and sometimes we have no idea who they are.

There have been some big names in the studio this week. Sandi Toksvig (former host of The Great British Bake Off) was on the desk last night, tonight it is singer Olly Alexander from Years & Years.
