‘You always make these unusual, bold choices,’ Langbroek said, to which Bickmore replied: ‘I know. I’ll be completely honest. I’m not 100 per sure of my decision…’
Langbroek then interrupted: ‘Hang on? Are you hosting A Current Affair?’
Bickmore rolled her head back with laughter, but didn’t deny she was jumping ship to Nine and swiftly changed the subject.
Interesting. If Carrie got the job I could see ACA moved to Melbourne. There is enough room next to the news set.
I would think Nine has enough talent in the wings to be able to replace Tracy Grimshaw smoothly. Not sure why they’d reach out to Carrie. Also I’m not sure ACA’s rusted on viewers would take too kindly to someone from The Project coming on board.
I thought the reason she stepped down was to work less and spend more time with her family. Why would she want to move into a TV role that requires her to be on air 3.5 hours a day, five days a week?
If I was Carrie I would be insulted by the ACA rumours. It would be a tragic sight to see her bookending stories about dodgy builders and miracle underwear.
I hope Rachel Corbett is in the running to replace Carrie, she the only one that comfortably calls out some of Waleed’s absurd contrarian tangents to his face.
Surely anyone that has a mediaspy login knows better than to believe that.
I believe it could be the case in the short term. She’s probably keeping options open (or has something lined up down the line) so in the shorter-term is scaling back a bit whilst still doing her radio show. If she had a big new big gig lined up immediately then I would think she’d be leaving radio too at the end of the year. It would be a lot to host a drive radio gig and evening radio show every day and she probably doesn’t need to do both.
I was once in the audience for The Project (a few years ago) and remember how quickly she was bolting out of the studio to go home. She had run off set and changed into her activewear quickly enough to be able to get in the same lift as us leaving the studio.
so? Ten has been rating lower than its competitors for 30 years. The big decider will be whether or not the show is paying its way. It’s also Ten’s most consistent performer being in the Top 20 six nights a week.
