The Project (ending June 27)

He has been accused of bring biased towards both. Probably means he is capable of tackling either side with tough questions.

All the more reason to disregard whatever theories they had in their minds

I see more 4 and 5 shares in that station’s future.

Not sure Behind the Lines will perform strongly, but perhaps 10 is comfortable with having an average performer at 6:30pm especially if it supports their focus on Australian content and strengthening the 10 News brand.

The main issue is audience flow, the transition from 10 News to Deal or No Deal, then to Behind the Lines, and finally into 7pm reality content means the audience will likely shift each time. That inconsistency could impact retention and overall performance.

Will be watching The Project tonight!

This makes me sad, I get that things couldn’t keep going the way they were, but they should have tried another refresh before the axe fell. The current cast with Sam Taunton and Sarah was a dud, they dont have the chemistry of the Pete and Carrie days. Look at how Today rebounded after that tom/georgie/deborah period. The nights that have Nick-waleed-Georgie-Susie is still good viewing.

The online hate the show gets was never fair, usually driven by people that have never watched the show, only what the Murdoch press repurposed.

I don’t see why 10 would be desperate to keep Sarah when Studio 10 never took off and she then was put into a long running show and lost it viewers. Indeed Sarah on The Project is surely a lesson in forcing talent into another role that’s not really suitable just to keep them on the channel.

If a show comes along she’s a good fit for absolutely use her but otherwise surely better getting her salary off the books.

As for the replacement can’t see it lasting beyond the end of the year - they tried before with the 6.30 with George Negus and failed - think that was prior to 7/9 having hour long news bulletins too. Their best bet would be to add another gameshow to accompany Deal as a true alternative to the news.

It kept building a decent audience during it’s first few years until @blackbox was removed - definitely took off.

Sarah needs to be presenting news. I think she has been put in the wrong areas over the years.

Let’s ask @blackbox this. Why did you choose Sarah as the main host of Studio 10?? She was fantastic on that show.

TONIGHT: We have a huge show, chatting to Parkway Drive’s Winston McCall, comedian Jo Koy and viral cooking sensation Andy Cooks!

I had gotten to know her at 9 and really liked her style. She also appeared on #9StreamLIVE, which was an internet show I was doing for the network where we talked hot topics. I thought she was really good. When I went to 10 I always had her in mind for the bus driver on what would become Studio 10.

Some of the executives who are still there didn’t want her in the role but I pushed and the CEO at the time backed my decision, thankfully. She was perfect for the role

New program slated to begin July 14, so just another 4-5 weeks remaining for The Project.

A little surprised that its that soon.

Surely, they will mention the show’s demise on tomorrow night, with Waleed and Sarah? And make it official?

Also according to The Australian

… what does this mean for The Project’s only star, Sarah Harris, her co-host Waleed Aly, and part-time presenter and eternally roving reporter Hamish Macdonald?

Nothing great … given we hear Ten’s executives are adamant they want a clean break from The Project and that there is to be no crossover between the incoming and outgoing programs.

Only star?

That’s a little rude.

Shouldn’t most of the news about the new show move to Behind the Lines thread instead of the Project?

Sarah is most likely done at Ten. She would be in a different pay grade to a newsreader on Ten. Shame for her but that’s the business.

I think it was commented here a few weeks ago that that is how Peter van Onselen describes her.

That doesn’t really make sense, I’m guessing The Australian is trying to say that they only like Sarah and hate all the other hosts?

I feel bad for Sarah, if people are blaming her for 2 axed shows but they don’t think about the people in power above her making the decisions. EPs on both shows etc..
