The Project (ending June 27)

Firstly, dont get aggressive.

Secondly, taking elements of other shows and intertwining it with another or others is always possible. In the early 1990s. GMA was originally a breakfast show with Bert Newton presenting a 90 minute morning show in 1992. That morning show was renamed GMA with Bert Newton in 1993 before reverting to the former. It took elements of both shows and was screened for 2 hours initially before varying its length to be a 2 to 2 and a half hour show throughout its run. It ended up feeling like a 2 hour infomercial as less variety and more paid presentations filled the show.

Elements of Project could continue in some new show, just not early evening. Neighbours was said to be dead but was resuscitated by the same network we are talking about. So anything can happens

Who’s being aggressive?

Well that’s just not true at all.

I don’t see anyone being aggressive?

I’m not sure The Project has enough brand capital ā€œworth savingā€ or moving/tweaking elsewhere in the schedule.

I don’t see how I was aggressive?

That is different from what you were suggesting before - you were saying that there is a chance that the program could continue as a late show. What you are now suggesting is that a new show be created using the name and/or elements from other shows.

I don’t recall GMA with Bert Netwon ever changing it’s name back to The Morning Show.

It was not resurrected by 10 - Amazon came to the rescue. 10 had every chance to save it, but they only wanted to contribute the bare minimum.

I agree - if people are tuning in now in it’s current setup, I doubt anyone will be in a rush to watch it at another time or in a different format.

Project later in the night is exactly what they should be doing. 9pm leading into the late news.

I dont see it as being in a replicate of what it is now, maybe more a Tonight Live style (without the comedy attempts) more than a carbon copy if they were to pair Sarah and Waleed together again.

Waleed as main host and Sarah on news

I didnt say it did. It dropped "with Bert Newton " from GMA.

Waleed will end up on 774 doing breakfast probably

As mentioned by tvblackox, The Project branding will be gone in coming months. Abd is expecting an announcement in coming days. And this time, does look like the stories are true. Done and dusted.

Just thinking outside the box. Would 10 ever go back and being competitive on a Sunday morning. Bringing back something like Meet the Press, and Waleed can host. Go up against Insiders, or there abouts. As for Sarah, as several mentioned, she can do the News like what Angela Bishop is doing at 1pm or at 3.30 for the time being. Doing the yearly Christmas with the Women’s Weekly wont be enough for her to do…

Sarah will want to stay in Sydney. I can see her doing breakfast radio or at another network.

Your proposal has some merit and i was thinking a little bit back to the 1980s and early 1990s. Remember when Ten had Face To Face and Business Week paired with Video Hits and 7 had Sportsworld. I think 10 could have those shows spread across Saturday and Sunday morning .

I wouldnt do a Sunday style program unless it was up against Today Extra Saturday because they need to be seen as being the point of difference

I love the idea. But i’d prefer Hugh Rimington
or even Hamish.

If i’m not mistaken, Waleed was biased towards Labor (or Liberal i can’t remember tbh) at one point? I could be completely wrong but i’m pretty sure i’ve seen ā€œtinfoil hat wearersā€using that as amo against The Project.

Hugh Rimington or Hamish would be suitable to Meet the Press (or similar) too. Not sure where else Waleed would go at the moment. If he stays on 10.

Has he done anything outside of The Project for 10? I wonder if his signed to Roving rather then 10?

Such a shame there’s no LIVE TV on the Network Ten excluding News.
My best LIVE TV was:
Studio 10.
The Circle
And The Project.

Waleed Aly could resume his previous employment as a lawyer

10 could air a Sunday style program on Saturday mornings from 10 in direct competition with Today Extra Saturday and The Morning Show Saturday. Anything political on it could have a panel (maybe pre-recorded on Thursday or Friday so it could possibly have Narelda, Sandra or Hugh)

Hamish is too risky these days. Does a year then jumps jobs. Can’t sit still.
