Wonderful setup. I really feel that a backdrop like that onto a Melbourne street (with trams) would add to the liveliness of the program and give it a bustling feel.
Completely agree. That live backdrop made the show feel so fresh and innovative although I think it would work much better, like the sun is to the breakfast shows, if the backdrop was black. It could work really well in Melbourne, oh hold up all those Wake Up memories a running back. NOOOOOOO! With a live backdrop, it gives the show a bit of buzz.
The Insiders does it well with the Melbourne backdrop even though I suspect it isn’t actually live since it’s always sunny.
The Sydney one they’ve had for the past two weeks is not quite as good.
I agree.
Imagine if they actually used all those screens on the set
Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy) from Game of Thrones on the show tonight. He’s the brother of Lily Allen and son of Keith Allen.
“He’s the sister” Interesting family ![]()
Hamish Macdonald is back home on a working holiday filling in for Waleed Monday-Thursday this week.
Good to see he still has some loose links with ten still.
He should do well given his time on the Late News. Also, it is always good to have Ray Martin hosting The Project, suits him well.
This coming Friday, my EPG says, " Join Anthony’ Lehmo’ Lehmann, Gorgi Coghlan, Tommy Little and Meshel Laurie…" Does that mean Tommy or Anthony will be hosting?
Alternate viewing will be taking place in my household Mon-Thurs. Cant stand Mr Ego.
Hamish McDonald!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Welcome back… I think?
Wasn’t gone long.
Ten News should use him again as Senior Foreign Correspondent (2010-2011)?
Waleed will be away longer than a week. When I saw the show on Thursday in Adelaide he mentioned he would be away in the UK for a while.
It is sad to see comments like this because he is a very intelligent, articulated journalist who is not respected by enough Australians. Many of his comments, rants and opinions are critiqued even though when others have those same views are not given flack.
Matt White also mentioned whilst interviewing Waleed & Carrie during the Clipsal 500 that he would be filling in for Waleed for a week soon also.
Great to see Hamish back then
Would love to see him back on the Late News if it were ever revived (or any other project)! Shame it’s just a working holiday then
+1
I don’t bother watching when Waleed’s not hosting.
I honestly can’t understand why people dislike him so much.
He’s one of the few instances in commercial television in recent times when an extensively knowledgeable, academic person is at the helm of a news/current affairs programme. He has confidence and asks questions that would otherwise go unanswered.
His presence brings enormous insight to the hundreds of thousands of people, especially younger viewers, that otherwise would be unexposed to this calibre of a journalism.
People at times seem to be afraid of listening to people who are confident in what they are saying, and simply mark it off as arrogant or egotistical.
I think it’s mainly Waleed’s style of presentation (it’s not particularly relatable, for the want of a better term), rather than what he says that is a turn off for the average viewer.
They’re the same people that read Andrew Bolt, therefore Waleed is a Muslim of the left, therefore dangerous! Personally one of the better talents in the media.
