The NCIS metaverse

How?

Just because 10 is part of the Paramount family, it does not give them the rights to everything.

The businesses are ‘separate’ to a degree so that they can see how each parts of the business operate and for accountability purposes.

Theoritically, Paramount Global could sell the Australian rights to the special to Foxtel. That wouldn’t happen but there are still deals in place / agreements and so on

Yeah yeah yeah but I mean why isn’t this included in the normal NCIS deals? Also how do you know that “as of today they don’t have the rights to that special”?

The specials are often not included in deals - reunions on reality shows are sometimes missed or countdown favourite moments. The deals usually include payment for a season (say 22 episodes) and any bonus material needs to be purchased.

I know 10 dont have it because I asked 10

The Ducky tribute episode aired tonight. It was an excellent episode, interspersed with clips from past scenes featuring the character. It was surprising to see a cameo by Michael Weatherly reprising his role as DiNozzo.

However, 10 cut out the tribute card right at the end, which was disappointing. I managed to find a screencap on X/Twitter after the episode finished. The tribute card read:

Michael Weatherly said on the 1000th episode Entertainment Tonight documentary that the spinoff on DiNozzo and Ziva will be shot in Budapest, Hungary, later this year.

Weird considering they are owned by the global parent of the show.

Interesting that NCIS Hawaii hasn’t been renewed, maybe it’s being cancelled and replaced by NCIS Origins in the Monday slot on CBS? :man_shrugging:

But next year there will be minimum 4 NCIS shows (2 full series order OG & Origins, no ep count on Sydney or P+ TIVA series)

I think NCIS: Hawaii will get renewed but have less episodes. The scheduling could look like this in the 2024-25 US season:

NCIS and NCIS: Sydney sharing the 8pm timeslot, NCIS: Sydney airing while the original has its winter break
NCIS: Origins, NCIS: Hawaii and TIVA spinoff sharing the 9pm timeslot (that should reduce the number of repeats in this slot)

Isn’t this P+ only?

It was basically a business decision with budgets cause According to TvLine, “Out of the 14 drama series that CBS has aired this TV season, it ranks No. 6 in total audience (behind Tracker, NCIS, FBI, Blue Bloods and The Equalizer) and eighth in the demo”

Hopefully for CBS ncis origins does well and not flop otherwise cancelling this will look like a mistake.

I feel they should have renewed Hawaii for 10-13 episodes next season to see how origins goes. If it goes well then cancel Hawaii next year but if it doesn’t live up to the expectations then they could renew Hawaii for a full season

An online petition urging CBS to reverse the axing of NCIS: Hawaii has so far collected more than 8000 signatures.

Almost 10k now, within 72 hours too.

From articles it seems like the cast found out at the same time as everyone else that they were not getting renewed & even looks like they were prepared to have production costs reduced etc too.

CBS must of really blown their budget with new shows etc to cancel a show which was their 6th highest watched & 8th highest in demo (out of 14)
