Would they really waste the potential huge ratings of The Masked Singer in non ratings?
Theyâve said they donât care about non ratings. They still measure ratings and collect revenue in that period and are combating the heavy sport laden schedules of the other networks.
Idgf what they do⌠theyâve said 50 weeks of new content a year and they should stick to it.
How do they sing under those masks though? They could be absolutely anyone with a recording playing till the reveal night when they ask the actual celeb to come in and put the costume on.
They can wear those headset mics that are quite unobtrusive.
Well Osher is better than Grant Denyer.
Looks like a furryâs wet dream.
Thatâs great if they do but it seems a bit expensive to use it for a 6-7 week block.
It may well be but thatâs their policy and strategy and should be held to account for it. Considering they have no sports rights they need to be spending money on anything and everything to ensure they remain remotely relevant.
Iâm all for a big show being at the back end of the year. It just seems like a big price to pay for a short block of time.
Why is it such a high cost?
How expensive can a prawn mask be?
Well, you must need lots of security, separate areas for the performers to prepare themselves and probably even separate accommodation to keep the identity of each contestant a secret.
The format rights are VERY expensive, the show itself wouldnât cost that much to produce.
How much are they?
Wouldnât it also cost to get the contestants on?
Generally I donât think the format costs are ever revealed publicly, other than generalisation about how expensive they may be.
Iâm basing it on this article from TV Tonight with Daniel Monaghan, 10 Head of Programming:
âYouâd have to be mad not to be looking at it, but itâs very, very expensive.â
Sure there are costs in producing the show, which obviously covers the talent fees - but Iâm willing to bet that the quality of the singers and their fees will not make this show that much more expensive than any other reality show for the same amount of airtime.
I would definitely say the show is more expensive to produce than other singing reality shows.
Nothing in the first two weeks of the year and nothing in the last two weeks of the year doesnât equal a 50 week schedule.
The show will start filming at Sydneyâs Fox Studios on Sunday afternoon, July 28. Register for tickets here
Will this show be âfilmedâ in advance of screening or will it be live every week?
I think every episode of this show will be filmed in advance, like Australiaâs Got Talent.
