The Masked Singer

This season they didn’t need to invest big $$ but I think next season to build the momentum they should get a couple of bigger stars in there. Or they might get some bigger Aussie stars wanting to do it now.

As far as Lindsay goes whilst she was pretty much useless with the guessing I did enjoy her on the show. Jackie O and Danni were enough to be there to give us serious guesses then Lindsay and Hughesy’s random names gave the show a bit of comedy. So I’m pretty happy to see this panel return next year. At least Lindsay knew who the winner was.

No I don’t agree. There is a very big difference between The Voice and The Masked Singer. The more people that see it increases the chances of the identities leaking which is the core of the show. I think they edited it very well to make it look like the audience was actually there. You wouldn’t know otherwise if you weren’t aware that they actually left. The only thing that they could maybe do differently is bring everyone back just to do the finale live and that would possibly give the public a chance to vote… but it’s probably not worth the effort or risk of it.

They’ll make more money on it next year because it will attract big advertisers.

I think the length at 9 episodes was just too short. Perhaps a 12 episode 6 week run would be the sweet spot for the show.

That winners pics is really cool!

I thought it was a good length but they can easily add more contestants like the US season did this year. Maybe a couple more to give a couple more episodes would be good.

Well it already has, hasn’t it? The show was not a flop.

They took a risk on Jackie (and Hughsey) but it paid off in spades.

Extensive coverage on Sydneys #1 Breakfast show and National Syndication, plus with Hughsey, more extensive coverage on the National Drive #1 show with big numbers in Melbourne.

You’ve got 2 major shows reminding audiences it exists.

Somehow Gorgi got a plush doll of her character from her IG post

My highlight as well.

I wonder if Nine would say Lego Masters was the biggest new hit this year, hence 10 saying TMS their biggest and new hit?

You can spin anything your way.

I’m curious to see what costumes they come up with for the next series. They were great this year.

Do you think they will reuse some?

They seem to create new ones in the overseas versions. They also have said the costume relates to the singer in some way. Although some them were quite tenuous links.

The costumes were designed with specific people in mind (height, eyes) etc so not sure it’s easy to reuse all of them.

Next year I hope they can solve for the disjointed crowd reactions / editing and brain storm a smoother and more live feel. The entire season felt like the crowd was a backing track of random reactions

The final show, at least, should be live. At that point flying the winner out blew the secret anyway

But wouldn’t having a live finale still blow the finalists identity anyway?

How is the reveal conducted in other markets?

That’s my point. It wasn’t live but the identity was blown, so it might as well be live! Same result, better atmosphere at the show.

I would say the reason for not having a live finale would have to do with costs than anything. If it is the same result as you suggest costs for 10 are going to come first. And in fairness I can see where they are coming from. Investors don’t want to see them just wasting money.

I do also miss the days of the big live finales. Back in the day 10 did it the best at the Opera House and the Big Brother Finales were also epic. I remember our family have a big party for those finales. Networks have lost that big event style feel.
