The Latest

They’re both way too wooden for a format like The Latest. It’s also an issue most people outside of Perth have no idea who they are.

Gonna have to repeat this a second time this week, do I? :upside_down_face:

People are entitled to their takes, though I feel Rick and/or Sue are not wooden presenters.

I agree on you with that, hence my first sentence above.

Maybe to the folks of Perth. They wouldn’t last a year on the east coast.

Can say the same regarding the east coast’s radio tastes, hearing it relayed over here in the west :face_with_peeking_eye:

(Not trying to be a heated person, I like constructive conversations and yes I don’t feel they are the best fit for The Latest, though I don’t feel that they wouldn’t be capable if it somehow did come to them presenting it, but I feel that’s highly unlikely.)

Well they have almost 40 years experience, which would work with promos, plus I can name some more wooden presenters at Seven.

Keep Angela - she’s great and deserves a whole lot more than just Sydney weekend’s! Shame about the show - although I wasn’t an avid viewer when I did catch it it was a great product - enjoyable late night viewing

The show did have a rare early start tonight. Started at 10pm, while Nine’s Late News started at 10.30pm.

A shame it’s not consistent with it’s starting times.

Actually the article doesn’t mention Angela leaving, only Michael, so maybe Angela could be moving to Perth. Just an out there thought.

I read a tweet earlier that hinted that Charlotte Goodlet could be joining 7news Perth. Perhaps she could take on The Latest?

Nobody gives a shit about Woody and Sue outside Perth.

Fair enough, but @spw68 saying they are “terrible” despite their four decades in the industry (Rick’s almost five decades since he joined Seven in 1978) and accolades is a bit rich.

And as echoed earlier, I don’t feel they are the best fit for a national bulletin anyways.

Their niche is with Perth audiences, and that’s completely fine, as is the same for the other presenters from Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Queensland.

They’re cost cutting. There certainly won’t be external hires.

My tip is Tim McMillan. He has been a reporter on the east coast before, albeit at 9, and is a quality presenter who can handle the dynamic nature of The Latest.

Just on the Rick and Sue thing. I don’t get it - but I also don’t get why certain other presenters are popular in other markets too (in Australia and around the world). Each market has their own quirks around the presenting style they like and prefer that may not transfer to other markets.

Agree. Its the mother and father affect. You grown up with these people.

Rick and Sue, Peter Mitchell etc wont work in other markets if implemented now.

1000% will not

I’d agree that Tim McMillan is the strongest candidate for this role.
