The Front Bar

I watched it. They were clearly just taking the piss, I don’t think they intended to offend the town or Maori people. It’s not like they were making fun of a person (that would have been offensive). You seriously can’t joke about anything anymore.

Seems comparable to Beau Ryan not infrequently joking around with the pronunciation of “Whakatane” during his days on The NRL Footy Show, gags which I don’t recall there being much outrage about but nonetheless are the type he’d NEVER get away with on Studio 10 (or perhaps even Network Ten in general, since there seems to be a more progressive vibe there compared to how things are at Seven/Nine)!

Some caps from last night

I find it odd that was the only thing pointed out. I don’t think TFB is for him, clearly different sense of humour.

Shocking revelation that the show that has heavy product placement is also a commercial enterprise.

Yeah, The Front Bar has been extremely heavy on product placement for Carlton Draught for years.

The only shocking revelation is that it’s taken this long for a regulatory watchdog to do an investigation!

FFS. Seriously! How could it not be obvious to the average viewer! Although, the interesting thing in the article there is the statement from CUB detailing the sponsorship arrangements and the steps taken to avoid issues over abuse of alcohol etc…

I hope that the person who complained doesnt watch any cooking or travel shows, because i hear product placement appear heavily in those shows too

House of Wellness, Three Blue Ducks and most of the afternoon shows on 10 says hi.

If they don’t have a problem then technically The Front Bar shouldn’t either.

There shouldn’t be any problem because you know it is sponsored. I think a bigger question should be where the complainant has been hiding for the past five years? I’d dismiss the complaint just for that.

Although I am concerned it could disappear without the sponsorship.

Please, even Trump knows it is sponsored by Carlton.

No surprises that they have been cleared for any breaches.

I also wonder where the complaint has been hiding for five years. They clearly mention that Carlton is a sponsor from day one. Meh, just another person complaining over nothing.

I’m surprised there’s no complaint about the “Mick’s Multis” segment at the end of each show which I think is even worse.

Everytime the The Block is mentioned on this forum, it’s impossible for people to not mention the massive product placement. However, no one ever seems to have issue that this show is sponsored content and contains far more advertising than any other show on prime time TV.

I think there’s a clear difference between a weekly comedic AFL program starting 8.30 or later to a more serious 4-day-a-week reality program airing at 7.30 on the bigger nights of the week that Nine would agree is probably their biggest non-event program of the year alongside MAFS.

What a riot Chris Connolly was on last night’s show.

“Slightly” went overtime… by nearly 40 minutes.

Was a good show. Lots of highlights shown throughout the year. AFL CEO Gillion McLachlan was one of the guests tonight.
