Such a nasty human considering all the stuff he’s said about others that went on the air during his career. Now someone says something a little OTT about him and he whinges about it being unfair :roll_eyes:

SBS has just filed its defence, denying the meanings claimed by Jones’ lawyers and pleading honest opinion; a truth defence; that other meanings in the broadcast which were more damaging to Jones are true; and finally that Jones’ reputation is so bad he couldn’t be damaged by SBS’ broadcast.

SBS also denied the meanings claimed by Jones, pleaded the defence of honest opinion, and asserted that Jones’ reputation was already so bad it could not be damaged by the broadcast.

A statement issued by Jones’ lawyers, Gillis Delaney, on Thursday, said the veteran broadcaster was pleased to announce the proceedings had resolved by agreement on a number of terms, including that the segment is permanently taken down, “avoiding the need for the delay and costs of any final hearing.”

Ciang is a 21-year-old aspiring comedian in Melbourne who dreams of signing a deal with Netflix but is stuck practising stand-up in his bedroom. An up-and-coming rugby star from a coastal NSW town, 18-year-old Cooper is caught between his own ideas of masculinity and the loss of two friends to suicide. 16-year-old Samantha is a promising young dancer in Sydney, whose goal to attend prestigious European dance schools may be cut short by injury and border closures. In regional Victoria, 14-year old Mercedes weighs up the gut-wrenching decision to give up her dream to become a professional boxer, so she can get a job to support her refugee mother. A story of hope and resilience, Pandemicland is a beautiful and inspiring glimpse into the lives of the generation that will shape the post-COVID world.

The 2021 finale is this Tuesday (November 9) at 10pm.

The Feed - Time To Buy

The Feed’s comedy team has joined forces with Tom Cardy to make an episode-length original musical about the Australian housing market. Time to Buy follows Jo and Erin, two millennials trying to buy their first home. It’s an all-singing, all-dancing fever dream featuring dodgy landlords, predatory lenders, fawning real estate agents and a virtual chat bot in the middle of an existential crisis. The musical sees Jo and Erin come head-to-head with a pair of baby boomers with their eyes on the same property. Can they hope to beat them at auction? And if they do, will Jo and Erin’s relationship survive the stress? Time to Buy is a brand-new Australian musical about love, money and negative gearing, featuring some of the finest comedy and musical talent in the country. The Feed regulars Vic Zerbst, Jenna Owen and Alex Lee are joined by Montaigne (Eurovision), Tom Cardy (Triple J Hottest 100), Susie Youssef (The Project), Marty Alix (Hamilton) and Rob Carlton (Paper Giants).

The show returns for 2022 tomorrow at 10pm.

The broadcaster revealed the decision to stop airing the show from June 28 to staff in its Sydney newsroom on Wednesday afternoon, but said it did not expect any redundancies as a result of the move.

Some segments of The Feed will continue to be made but will be distributed only online via SBS On Demand and on social media.

Probably not unexpected. It’s not what it used to be.

I used to watch it occasionally when it was on SBS2 at 7.30pm but never really followed it when it shifted to the main channel and to a late/weekly timeslot. Good to see that it will continue in an online capacity though.

Although it was always going to be hard for the show to top the genius that was elevating Lee Lin Chin to queen status in 2014

SBS announces new specialist documentary unit with The Feed to become digital only

New SBS documentary unit will build on the recent success of Framed, fronted by Marc Fennell

SBS has announced The Feed will become digital only, focusing more on platforms where younger audiences are consuming its content.

From July, the television program on Tuesdays at 10pm will be discontinued, and The Feed will continue delivering short form original stories, explainers and comedy for digital platforms.

As part of this evolution, SBS will also form a specialist documentary unit from within The Feed team to create more long-form factual series for SBS On Demand after the launch of Framed at the end of last year, which was SBS On Demand’s most successful digital original commission. Framed, presented by Walkley Award winning journalist, Marc Fennell, examined the theft of a Picasso from the National Gallery of Victoria in the 1980s.

SBS Director of News and Current Affairs, Mandi Wicks says: “The Feed has undergone several iterations since its inception in 2013, always delivering unique and distinctive stories for a younger audience. The Feed’s content performs well on digital platforms, and we are looking forward to putting more focus on crafting content for these audiences.

“The Feed has also been an amazing place to discover and develop young and diverse Australian journalists, producers and editors, and we believe the new direction will play to the strengths of the current talented and creative team and continue to serve as a talent incubator for SBS.”

The new specialist documentary unit will be overseen by Managing Editor of Current Affairs Lanneke Hargreaves, and produce two documentary series during 2022/23, fronted by Marc Fennell.

“Marc Fennell has been the face of The Feed for nine years and we are pleased he will still be front and centre as we create this specialist documentary unit, producing more Australian stories told in a unique and engaging way for audiences,” said Lanneke Hargreaves, SBS Managing Editor of Current Affairs.

“The new documentary unit includes some of the most talented, young, diverse journalists and filmmakers I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with,” said Marc Fennell. “Building off the success of Framed, I can’t wait to start digging into new unique stories that only SBS can tell.”

“We want to acknowledge the ongoing legacy of The Feed TV program. It is a testament to the talent of all those involved along the way. SBS is proud of everything The Feed has achieved and believes the team, with expanded digital resources, will continue that legacy,’ said Wicks.

SBS will make announcements about the new series later in the year. The final episode of The Feed on TV will air on SBS on June 28.
