The Daily Edition

The wording from the statement suggests that and the strap wording as well.

Also, they aren’t going to want to give a redundancy payment to an alleged abuser if they can avoid it

It’s a forum about the show; we’re not here to speculate what happened between Ryan and his partner. Therefore how it impacts the show for the rest of the week is fair discussion.

Surely they weren’t bothering with a farewell package on Friday? This show has no loyal audience. I doubt there would be a single person who went out of there way to watch this show.

Right. But why are we feeling sorry for Sally?

Because it overshadows her 7 years as host and puts her in an uncomfortable position to address the circumstances on air rather than celebrate the show on a high note. Further down the track she will remember the show as being dogged by her colleagues personal life.

Because she doesn’t deserve her final week at her employer, to which she has been very loyal and shared many of her personal highs and lows, to be overshadowed by the actions of Ryan in this way.

I really think that’s rubbish. It doesn’t overshadow her at all. She’s her own person with a stellar career. This won’t affect her at all.

It won’t affect her career, but it will affect the shows legacy and reputation in a negative spotlight on the identities also now and not just how it was a reflection on the shows format/content.

I think too much thought is being put into this. I respect your opinion but agree to disagree.

Given this conversation, it already has. Every news article written about the show in the coming days will talk about Ryan. And news website which would normally ignore the show will write articles because of it and wont be about Sallys stellar career.

Like it or not, it affects the show. Of course it doesnt affect her career or reflect on her at all. But it is unfair to her and shows the insidious and infectious nature of such horrific actions.

While I recognise that this is a television discussion forum, I feel as though the main issue here has been overlooked.

I have removed several posts that were way out of line. I encourage users who do not appreciate the scale of the issue to visit the White Ribbon Australia website, which provides a range of resources and information on domestic violence.

I’m closing this thread for now.

Some brief points:

  • Sally briefly addressed Ryan’s absence at the start of the show. With the matter before the courts, Seven will not be commenting further.
  • Shaun White from Sunrise cohosting today.
  • Tom Williams cohosting for the remainder of the week.

I was going to ask this in the “The Daily Edition” thread, but it seems to be locked.

How was today’s final episode? Montages at the end? Any special goodbyes?

I taped today’s finale and will watch it this weekend.

From the show’s Executive Producer

Short montages of the early years of the show were shown going to commercial breaks/returning from commercial breaks.
Sally was extremely professional and classy all week in what would’ve been a very difficult week for her.
Hopefully we will see her again on our screens on another network down the track.

It is sad to see any local production go. Hopefully things turn around soon for everyone working in the industry.

I’ve concentrated the caps on the early year clips that were shown in 4 packages.

Their sets were pretty average over the 7 years, their last one was probably the best.
