A lot of the guest interviews are just becoming boring, lazy cross promotions (taskmaster and masterchef tonight). The show needs to return to its roots and do more original comedy, making fun of regional news etc and a regular sports segment.
I struggle to watch the show on broadcast anymore and will only watch it on 10play so I can fast forward the random cross-promotion guests.
At the rate they’re using the show as boring a cross-promotion vehicle, they’ll probably kill it.
might be tricky - WIN, Seven and Nine might mot allow Working Dog access to their local news footage. IIRC, they had issues with this during The Panel era, albeit not for regional news, but other footage.
As far as I’m aware, most networks are clients of a logplayer service, which allows them to access and record any live channel in Australia (including the regional channels), and the ability to go back and watch specific times and dates in case they miss anything.
I’m sure a few people here are using it
Well I wasnt sure. Im assuming theyre claimong copyright or have made the cost of licensing clips sky higjh. I wouldn’t rule out those 3 jacking up the price.
Nine and Working Dog and Ten have history - check The Panel’s Wiki page.
Agreed. Used to be a big fan, but finding the interviews in particular often boring, and with unknown or little known guests. They used to have far more emphasis on making fun of the news. And no, they’re not restricted as to what news sources they can show. Comes under the fair comment rule.
They’re also falling into the breakfast radio trap of laughing and giggling at everything. Though it’s good to see Tim keeping up his level of dry humor and cynicism.
HYBPA went through this problem at one point too. In around 2018 or 19 I think they had 3 guest quizmasters in several episodes, which was too much. Nowadays it’s rare that they have 2 an episode.
Interesting that when they showed Eddie’s clip from Offspring, Stan (in tiny letters) was shown on the top right corner. The streaming platform currently has the SVOD rights.
