The Chase Australia

Very likely not - Nine’s tennis coverage on most days of the Australian Open will be unbroken across Nine/9Gem/9Go (though Nine does take an hour’s break for the tennis, in which case coverage rolls over on 9Go).

Seven have been proactive in recent years, attempting to counter-program against (like what Ten set out to achieve a decade ago with I’m A Celeb) the Australian Open. Whereas in prior years gone by, the networks would sort of just sit back and watch the damage unfold, albeit non-survey period.

Of course, a former Seven household event for 45 years. But they run some risks, as always, doing so too, as Ten have learnt the hard way more often than not.

IMO though it’s harder for an all day-day after day 2+ week major sporting event vs a 2 hour one off program, I think Seven hope to get off to a good start each night early with Chase > News > H&A and hope to lure/retain those viewers.

Not going to lie they should ditch the pre chaser intro since Larry mentions only 5 of the 8 chasers which Issa confirmed was to save time.

They should ditch the low and high offers since 85% of the time contestants take what they earnt in the cash builder. I’m always disgusted whenever a contestant takes the low offer lol. They’re better than the low offer.

They need to can this “Mega Money” shit, wouldn’t be surprised if Nine News pick up extra viewers now when they see this around 5:53pm.

I get they wanted to put more money on the table for the contestants in a show that rarely sees much go home if at all, as well as being more appealing for viewers, to see if the chaser can chase it down and stop a big $100k being given out…

But for 9 years we didn’t have it, just keep it as is. ‘If it ain’t broke, why fix it’.

British Chase will always be better than Australian Chase.

Come fight me.

Can’t argue with you there. Because it is true.

No gimmicks there either in their normal show. Beat the Chaser and Celebrity Editions are different shows that also works better in the UK than our one.

Not seen an episode recently but the prize levels were always set wrong to encourage the show to work at it’s best - setting each question at $2k rather than $1k meant the level of the big offers they were working with just weren’t tempting enough to encourage players to take the high offer. The US realised their mistake when they set the standard question level too high and subsequently dropped it and it’s a shame the Aussie version didn’t make that change early on. And bigger higher offers would be much better than the “Mega Money Spinner” bullshit.

It seems that Wednesday night episodes are now repeat episodes

I noticed that too for this afternoon.

Why is Seven airing repeats so early in the week now?

It was a new ep, as is next Wed. Seven held it back from Season 13 (ep 118) - probably because it was the Governess and she isn’t here as often

Oh, i see. Thanks for the clarification.

Based on that list, today’s ep S13 E92 is a repeat.

Yes they’ve been running Thurs/Fri repeats for years now, even against new competition

Based on the guides next Monday is the first episode of Season 15; Tuesday is episode 2.

Indeed, with quite a few left unaired from season 14 too:

It’s a very strange/somewhat confusing numbering system they use but I suppose they have their reasons lol

I’ve been watching both lately the UK and AU. It’s clear that Bradley is obviously part of the reason why it was become what it has, he isn’t as scripted (Larry comes across way to fake), and it’s very light hearted at times without coming across as fake in the UK. His personality is obviously hard to come by and it works for the show. Larry doesn’t.

UK version just seems more laid back.

I think we need a change of host here and potentially some tweaks in making it look a bit more less scripted.
