The Chase Australia

I don’t have an answer but it certainly isn’t because of the contestants location.

They don’t say where they are from.

That can’t be the reason unless viewers are psychic.

How do you know all 4 contestants last night weren’t from Melbourne?

Have to agree. Tipping Point might be produced in Melbourne and have a Melbourne-based host but how does that explain it winning in Sydney or Brisbane? When The Chase moved from Melbourne to Sydney I’m sure it was still beating locally-produced Hot Seat in Melbourne.

I think the reality is people had a look at Tipping Point when it debuted and liked what they have seen, and then they never go back again. Seven just needs to find a show that has that effect like The Chase when Hot Seat was winning.

On that thought, maybe Seven should’ve gone for Deal or No Deal before 10 got their hands on it. Seeing how it’s rating for 10, can you imagine if it was on Seven and went up against Tipping Point at 5pm :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Sydney Based show (Moved from Melbourne a few years ago)
Sydney based presenter and production team.
Predominately Sydney based contestants.

The show no longer connects to audiences.

You are so over thinking this.

The average viewer would have absolutely no idea where it’s filmed, nor care.

Ratings show it… :+1:

It’s rating higher in Sydney and Brisbane too. Doesn’t mean it’s filmed there.

It really is as simple as a new flashy toy has come along and gained attention.

Nah, disagree David.

Your argument makes no sense.

They don’t advise contestants location. There’s no way people are turning off the Chase for that reason. How can you turn off a show because of a contestants state if they don’t mention it?

Explain the increase in Perth then.

Again, disagree with this I’ve explained above.

So if the Chase is made in Sydney, Sydney host and Sydney contestants then why isn’t it smashing it there?

Hey its doing a lot better in Sydney.

But as I’ve always said, Melbourne always prefer a local show over an interstate production. The Project, Tipping Point, News Breakfast, Masterchef etc all have their best numbers coming out of Melbourne.

Ratings and history show this, because its a very fickle market. Always has been and always will be.

But the Chase still outperformed the ‘locally made’ Hot Seat after moving to Sydney. I agree with David, don’t think the location of the contestants (which viewers don’t even know about) is the reason for the lower ratings

It’s the novelty, newness and freshness of a new game show.

I’ve been watching Catch Phrase the last couple of days and have quite enjoyed it. Something different for a change.

Seems like Seven could make a good promo along the lines of “Victorian Week” with all Victorian contestants - but only promote that in Melbourne.

100% agree. This might be beneficial.

I don’t understand this, the average Melbourne viewer would have no idea Tipping Point is recorded in Melbourne. I don’t think game show viewers sit at home wondering which city the show is being taped in.

No, but most people are aware it’s made in Sydney.

Agree, they absolutely do not. Overanalysis. Nor do they change channels in disgust “i’m not watching that, it’s filmed in Sydney!”

The weak Melbourne results for Chase are part of an overall Melbourne problem for Seven as a whole
