The Chase Australia

I like the promo, typical high budget, in your face, flashy, catchy from Seven. However, the amount of times they’ve played this, especially during AFL recent nights for “Monday” and the way he sits there like in an ivory tower and says “you can call me…” and the strobe graphics and evil laugh, can see it might also annoy or turn off certain viewers.

It’s going to be an interesting battle from this week. I saw Nine also had a new TP promo with what looks like a big win or exciting result with Woodbridge jumping up and down. Also saw digital ads for TP on various websites.

Nice plug on WS this morning, but not sure it was really necessary. The chasers’ contracts and the show in general format rights and to externally produce can’t be cheap. And they have a lot riding on ‘The Professor’ as well as the other newer ones and given the tight ratings with Nine at the moment.

sorry for double post

What’s with this new awful canned laughter and ticking clock during the final chase, on Professor’s debut. Awful.

It’s horrendous.

Worst canned audience I’ve ever heard.

And the over the top gasps when the Professor got a question wrong was annoying too.

The canned audience has hit a new low

Panic mode for Seven? running a cross program promotion with Spotlight doing a story on The Governess.

The secrets of The Governess

Anne Hegerty is the formidable force behind The Chase Australia’s The Governess. Known for her assertive and competitive style, she confronts contestants with intelligence, wit and her signature sarcastic humour.

I think it’s a fluffy human interest story for spotlight, noting the controversy of the court case from this week.

Just guessing, but Sarah probably filmed at least parts of this while she was still based in the UK?

So not necessarily panic stations given Sarah left the UK back in August/September.

I came here to ask if this was new. Just awful

Hardly anything new though to have stories about take talent from the network when there is a story to tell. If The Chase did fall into 2nd place with any consistency, we would be saying they should have done more to promote the brand. See no issues here - likely something they would have planned anyway with new competition coming in.

The Chase has been ranked second for the last 4 weeks - nationally, 5-city metro, all key demos, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and sometimes other markets.

Reach is pretty important for the 5pm game shows though because reach will give you an idea of your peak audience just before 6pm.

They need people to keep tuning in for the final chase.

7 seems to be trying everything without actually wanting to spend the money on putting new episodes on Thursday as well (Tipping Point Australia recently introduced Friday repeats after Easter).

“Big Money Week” next week…

Needs more “money” added to the graphics.

Can’t remember a time Seven were so worried about their 5pm timeslot, maybe mid-2010s with MDM getting whipped by Hot Seat along the east coast? Did Seven ramp up their marketing back then?

Agree. Seven are panicking. Having this “big money week” is a ploy to bring viewers back (duh…!). And having no ad break between the fourth contestant and the final chase hasn’t done much to the ratings either, i believe.

I wonder what other gimmicks Seven are going to do with The Chase…

And yet there are constant complaints on the other Social Media platforms about the repeats on Thursdays and Fridays, whereas TPA was playing new episodes every day until after Easter (Fridays are now the TPA repeat day).

Channel 7’s responses so far is the ill fated Double Trouble specials, putting forward Brandon The Lightning Bolt’s episodes ahead of David The Professor’s 2022 filmed episodes, which just highlights there’s quite an amount of stockpiled episodes which highlights that Channel 7 can play 4 new episodes a week, but are too stingy (arguably arrogant) to do so despite now losing more frequently in the ratings to Channel 9’s Tipping Point.
