Three hours of The Chase is back? The last few weeks, Seven had aired dramas, so they have run out of content?
It’s poor programming to be honest. Surely they could find something else.
Seven could pick up the US revival of Weakest Link once that starts airing in the States next week. But I doubt this would happen.
Perhaps The Chase UK would be better off in a 2-3pm slot, and then Seven can put fillers or some Highway Patrol and The Force on between 3 and 4pm.
The Chase UK has really been struggling for Seven recently, and it has a ripple effect on the rest of the day, as Seven now seem to lose the 4pm news in most markets as far as I’m aware.
Here’s an idea for them. Why don’t they air some classic Seven shows like Blue Heelers/All Saints/Rafters/A Country Practice (which I’m pretty sure Seven owns) in that slot or encore their 7.30 reality (or whatever) show from the night before? That’s their content problem solved right there.
I actually seem to recall Seven airing Blue Heelers in an afternoon slot. Around 2007 possibly?
Doesn’t help when viewers have been sampling (and have been hooked on) “Tipping Point” on Channel Nine. Unlike The Chase, someone is guaranteed to win on Tipping Point (unless someone takes the trade and loses, as has happened on a few eps).
I also dare say that even if they wanted to, Nine wouldn’t be able to commission a local edition of Tipping Point until at least when the COVID-19 pandemic is declared over.
And the over saturation of The Chase will do nothing to help the ratings for the new Beat the Chaser (is that the correct title?) when it comes.
Even my elderly mother who has been a big The Chase fan for years, cannot watch 3 eps per day. She watches something else when the 2.00 ep is on.
Should 7 consider extending TMS to midday and having a midday news bulletin, with the afternoon movie from 1-3?
That’s what I was thinking, but two problems:
-
Seven would be too scared to remove the 11:30am news until Nine do so
-
It still doesn’t address Seven’s failing 3pm slot
I think The Chase would do better with just the one UK episode per day… the movie would be a sound lead in I would think…that said, I have no knowledge of the current ratings…
Or maybe leave it with just the Australian one to have more viewers in at 5pm.
There is surely something else around that can be used as a fill in, or maybe new episodes of a series.
Of course there is, but they must have a great deal on price to be running it again rather than something else.
I’m just hoping that it is a temporary move with having the Chase UK at 2pm and 3pm. Until Seven finds more permanent programs. I can watch 2 eps of the show (the UK and Australian version) when i am home, but 3 eps is a bit too much.
They could always air two movies in daytime
A promo for Beat the Chasers aired during The All New Monty Guys and Gals tonight. As expected, the UK Chasers (the Beast and the Governess) will not be appearing.
Coming this November.
Why couldn’t they appear on screens?
Honestly, I am interested to see how it goes.
That promo looks nice
