Moorebank is only a few suburbs away from one of Sydney’s COVID-19 outbreak hotspots, so can’t imagine those studios being used for much in the immediate future.

Yeah those were ‘celebrity’ or MKR specials which wasn’t really appealing. This spinoff version is different enough and from what I’ve seen, quite good so I hope it does alright when it airs.

Hope it does well in prime time. Pretty sure the celebrity Chaser specials came 3rd or 4th on their time shots when they aired last year.

Melbourne’s strict COVID rules do allow for the continuation of filming for existing television productions, meaning The Chase could have continued production in Melbourne.
However, the rules prevent the commencement of filming on new programs.
Looking COVID wise, it would be difficult to see Melbourne get out of the COVID situation for a while. I would think that the change would be for now, but if Melbourne is still stuck after a few weeks then I’d say the move is probably for good.

I reckon it will be a permanent move to Sydney, also since Andrew O’Keefe lives in Sydney and therefore won’t have to commute to and from Melbourne constantly.

I think this will be a permanent move. And something Andrew would be pushing for.
It will take a few weeks to move sets etc and set up a new studio within Sydney. By this time the Melbourne Covid situation would have improved.

Conversely, Brydon and Issa live in Melbourne and will have to commute to and from Sydney constantly.

Oh well. Poor didums. Andrews done it for years.
They don’t appear on every episode like Andrew has to. I’m sure they can work something out where they can film a backlog of episodes in a row for them once a month or so.

Both Matt Parkinson (Goliath) and Brydon Coverdale (The Shark) went into 2 weeks hotel quarantine prior to filming.
Production by ITV Studios at Carriageworks saw all Chasers separated with perspex screens and small pools of audience members socially distancing as families / couples.
Interesting that the show was filmed at Carriageworks in inner Sydney, rather than ITV’s own premises at Moorebank where The Voice was shot earlier this year.

Wasn’t the Moorebank studio only set up because they couldn’t find any other studio space in Sydney at that time? From all accounts, it’s very makeshift and not the best facility.

Isn’t Channel Seven’s Sydney Studios next door to the Carriageworks? Do they have other space apart from the Home and Away sets? Or does ITV film/produce the show rather than Seven themselves?
ITV produces it but I’m sure if space allowed they could have filmed at 7, assuming there isn’t the space.

What are Seven thinking airing The Chase for 3 hours in the afternoon? This won’t benefit them in the long run, viewers will switch off.

Obviously because they don’t have anything else except for some occasional crime shows and this now that The Daily Edition has been scrapped.

They could possibly pick up another game show from the US or UK, like what Nine did with Tipping Point.
