The Block

Congratulations to Emma and Ben. Lovely news! Very exciting times ahead!

Not really sure it’s Scotty and Shelley’s place to tell all the other houses during the walk around with Shelley.

This is pissing me off! Which producer thought this was a good idea?!

I have to agree. That Scott Cam is pathetic. Again inserting his shitty ego into sharing this news so he’s the centre of attention. He’s such a flog.

Agree, he’s probably the main reason why I don’t watch The Block.

Possibly the most over rated “talent” on Australian TV.

SUNDAY AUGUST 31

It’s just over 24 hours until our contestants reveal one of the most important rooms on The Block, the living and dining room spaces.

Sonny and Alicia have a reputation on a Saturday for arguing as they try to finish their rooms. It’s become known as Fight Night at House No.4. The good thing is though, after they argue, they get over it.

More drama for Han and Can, after Foreman Dan catches them tipping out paint in their yard and not at the proper place on site. This could contaminate the soil. Han denies it, but he looks at security footage and proves them wrong.

Robby and Mat have their first real Saturday drama as they didn’t realise the rule that there are no power tools after 3.30pm. But they are lifted as Robby’s partner Alyssa and young baby son Brooks arrive to visit them on The Block.

Han and Can’s living and dining room is set to be super expensive, and they are counting on a win or a 10 to get much needed money.

Judging starts and in a twist Scotty announces the Commonwealth Bank $10,000 award at the beginning of judging. It’s Sonny and Alicia again, who came in $1 under budget.

EM AND BEN HOUSE ONE - SPENT $22,269

This is the first room that the judges didn’t love for Emma and Ben. They thought the layout was wrong, the couch wasn’t in the correct place. The grandeur of the ceiling was great but that’s about it. It was underwhelming and felt a bit corporate. Shaynna said the space had a lack of sophistication. The first miss for Em and Ben.

HAN AND CAN HOUSE TWO - SPENT $32,412

The judges thought the girls did an incredible job. The feeling and vibe was just right. Shaynna said it’s like they have grown up. They adored the custom made Christian Cole table. Everything worked in this room.

BRITT AND TAZ HOUSE 3 - SPENT $33,585

This would have been a 10 for Shaynna but she felt they got the layout wrong, and the couch was in the right place. They loved the timber in the roof. Shaynna thought this was very Dayelsford. Mid century country. Another very strong room from Britt and Taz.

SONNY AND ALICIA HOUSE 4 - SPENT $19,999

A real disaster of a week for the Gold Coast married couple. The judges thought they got the spatial planning completely wrong. The living room felt so small and cluttered for such a huge house. They will have to completely salvage it before auction with new furniture choices. The one positive, they loved the brick fireplace.

ROBBY AND MAT HOUSE 5 - SPENT $21,225

A very successful week for the boys. Marty was speechless, in a good way. He thinks this room will appeal to buyers. It was beautifully styled, which surprised Shaynna. The furniture choices were excellent.

After using their bonus gnome, Robby and Mat take out the win, just pipping Britt and Taz.

I hate the block edit. They are trying to create a villain in Hannah and idiots just fall for it. This is the biggest issue with the block.

I’ve watched every episode this season and don’t see that at all. She isn’t helping herself whatsoever. From Day One she deliberately went against Dan and hasn’t stopped being sneaky and lying ever since.

Not sure what you’re watching Turdall but they deliberately lied to him last night again. There’s video evidence twice in a week of them being sneaky (stealing Sonny’s idea) and lying (dumping their paint). All caught on camera.

You cannot edit liars.

Those girls are not getting a bad edit. They’re actually doing the things we are seeing.

So have I. It’s very obvious editing from a show and producers notorious for this sort of tactics. Not sure how you can ignore that track record. Every season we have seen contestants bend rules and not fully understand them but this has been edited in a certain way to Perry a villain. Surely you watch enough reality to see this.

So how do you explain last night?

Denying over and over again it was them. Dan caught them on camera. Hannah still lying and saying it wasn’t them. Candice finally confessed.

Cmon Turdall. How is that an edit?

An edit goes for weeks you realise? It’s been leading up to this to make them look like outcasts.

They build stories for weeks and people, like you clearly, believe it.

Okay.

I have noticed this also and made comment via tweets maybe last week that its clear Han and Can were given the villian edit in the opening weeks.

Much like Steph of Steph and Gian fame. She was ‘the villian’ at the beginning but then came off to be one of the shows fave people. I remember saying at the time the producers got us again.

Not saying Han and Can have been perfect but the ‘villian’ edit has since moved to Alicia and Sonny. It was noticeable when it shifted.

The thing that frustrates me is the show can rate without the edit to make someone into an unnecessary villain.

Robby and Mat from The Block get involved in our first Celeb edition of Fire 'Em Up. How will Mat respond to being told something catastrophic has happened to their centrepiece Wine Cellar?

Nine star’s surprise return weeks after defecting to Seven

A former Block star made a surprise cameo on the show during Wednesday’s episode – just weeks after his defection to a rival network was made public.

Longtime The Block judge Neale Whitaker, who quit the role last year, had a special guest appearance on the show this week to judge a challenge.

While his appearance was been filmed months ago, it comes hot on the heels of his move to the Seven Network, where he’ll soon be seen as a judge on the rival reno show My Reno Rules.

He was there to judge this week’s challenge, which saw each team complete their own individual bathhouse room at Hepburn Spa, near this year’s Block site in Daylesford.

what the hell is a bathhouse room? I swear they’re just making rooms up now.

A room to house the bath?
