The Block

But that’s their talent

Tonight Channel 9 will launch a brand new promo for The Block in which contestants turn on each other over claims of cheating.

If the girls were from Love Island I’m sure it would be acceptable. Although I’m not complaining about the guys lack of shirts, it does look very tacky/trashy/channel 9.

Turning the show into MKR/HR/MAFS?

Do you watch the show? Last season they had Tam and (I think it was Tash) walking around picking the best looking tradies for a hot tradie calendar. They lean in heavily to tacky.

LOL, I thought The Block has already had a cheating scandal with that “Copygate” thing the season before last.

Given this show’s notorious reputation for shoving product placement down viewers throats every five seconds, it can’t be long now before we’re seeing a Sponsorship Scandal: Contestants kicked off The Block for expressing independent thinking by shopping at Bunnings and picking up brekky at Hungry Jacks (rather than The Block sponsors Mitre 10 and Maccas respectively)!

When The Block began, it was a renovation type show.

These days, it is contestants driving to a sponsored building supplier, in their sponsored car, ordering a Maccas Coffee on the way while doing silly challenges in between, while Scott Cam whistles and says “tools down” with a nice close up of the tools. With no actual renovation during the show by any of the contestants. Add some “scandal” in between to juice up a storyline.

Yeah it definitely had some good seasons in its earlier days. It has always been heavily sponsored but it has just continued to get worse and worse. Although I have started to think they are just taking the piss out of themselves. Which really is Scott Cams brand. The show is a beast though. The fact the shows started in 2003 and was able to reinvent itself and continue to be one of the biggest shows of the year is hugely impressive. Something clearly resonates with the audience.

I reckon it’s the room reveals. Sundays always rate better than anything else due to the room reveals, but the rest of the week are much lower in comparison. Perhaps most viewers are craving the room reveals and the actual ‘renovation’ element rather than the contestants/fake drama/product placement.

Almost as if people want to watch the renovation show to see people renovate a house than to see contrived drama.

Correct I know I only watched I’m reveals as I’m interested in home design and home improvements and use the ideas for my own places.

Funnily, that part of the show is the most watchable and that says a lot.

This season is going to be absolutely shambolic. Both of the ‘Faves’ are so egotistical and horrific people to watch, and then add on the endless product placement and cross-promotion and Scott Cam.

Let me guess. the cheating is Ronnie and Georgia?

Thought it could also be Mitch and Mike.

Mitch and Mark.

The so called “faves” this time around are the most hated and putrid people to ever go o this show. My hatred for them runs deep.

The Block heading to Byron Bay? | TV Tonight

This could be a great change for the series.

But does anyone even work up there? They would have to accommodate the tradies as well as the teams. Most locals would provide help if given exposure, Don’t think Maccas could be a sponsor.

Should be set. there’s a Mitre 10

Personally, I wonder how long it’ll be until there’s Byron Baes-like protests against The Block heading up their way?

There’s absolutely no comparison between the two.
