10 couples? and theyre all white? ![]()
There’s 5 couples.
5 couples - looks like they did a pic in Reno gear and normal clothes
Still they are all so bland, I don’t blame you for being mistaken.
Synopses for week one of Mount Eliza season
Sunday 2 August
Scotty greets five very excited couples to coastal Mount Eliza and assigns them their first rooms: guest bedrooms. In this week-long house decider challenge, the team that produces the best guest bedroom gets first choice of the homes.
Monday 3 August
The Blockheads work on their guest bedrooms and very quickly realise this Block is not going to be a walk in the park.
Tuesday 4 August
The Blockheads struggle with the new site hours, and Dan makes it very clear that the rules will be enforced.
Wednesday 5 August
Scotty and Shelley check in with the teams and raise the stakes with a money-making opportunity.
The beloved tradie and TV personality has been off his feet for nearly two weeks and said he requires a walking stick to get around.
Speaking remotely to Hit Network’s Stav, Abby & Matt in Brisbane, the 63-year-old detailed his treatment and recovery.
“I am calling you from my hospital room which I’ve been in for 12 days. I’ve just had a knee replacement,” he said.
I think Drew Got confused because there was 10 pictures but obviously double ups.
Are we really surprised? Big reason why I have tuned out of the show is because of the racism I have felt the show has betrayed. (Again my opinion don’t want to be yelled at)
HELLO SA
Sunday 2 August 5:30 PM Adelaide, Monday 3 August overnight other markets
Includes: We meet this year’s SA contestants on The Block.
Ease up on the gym bros (and gals) Nine.
Daily Mail reports that specific couple split up pre filming but came to an agreement with 9 to continue filming and put that issue aside.
So really pedestrian casting choices yet again. Just nauseating.
These will be pretty pricey, will be interesting to see how these go. Seems to be a bit on the market in the area at the moment. Victorian election around the same time as they will go to auction also. Clearance rates are trending down in Melbourne and Eliza is at the lower end.
Not sure who they’re aiming for, but the opening piece voiced by Cam with sweeping views of the cliffsife and water, “mansions” and also saying “upmarket” clearly sends signals to viewers straight away.
Hope these couples aren’t setting their expectations too high to make money. With the way market is and then investors at a disadvantage, you’d think they won’t make money unless there’s a manufactured low reserve by nine.
The Block Storytelling Drives Brand Awareness and Effectiveness as 22nd Season Kicks Off
As The Block returns for its 22nd season on Sunday night – this time in the coastal town of Mt Eliza in Melbourne’s picturesque Mornington Peninsula – the format will once again set the bar for storytelling that organically weaves in integration, ensuring brands can tell their stories like never before.
Featuring a powerhouse roster of major partners, sponsors and suppliers leveraging the show’s unrivalled commercial effectiveness, The Block will see five eager teams transform family-sized properties into luxury resort-style homes with water views.
Fresh Gemba research commissioned by Nine reveals that embedding brands into the contestants’ daily routines drives purchase intent amongst viewers, with an 8.4% average lift in brand consideration, and elevates brand perception with a 43% growth in “Premium” brand association.
With the series featuring a collection of shops – Bunnings mini-store, Chemist Warehouse and McCafé (which marks its 13th year of sponsoring The Block) – the hub becomes a central point for the contestants, becoming a focal point for story content.
Driving storytelling even deeper is new sponsor Chery, which becomes an extension of the set, creating the opportunity to showcase the transition to and from The Block and keep the storyline flowing. With the Blockheads toughest challenge often keeping within budget, CommBank will provide weekly budgeting tools, while in its 12th year of The Block, Domain will use the series to launch an immersive 3D room reveal through its app.
New brands Australian Retirement Trust, Chery and Stan join a group of diverse brands returning this year as partners including ALDI, Arnott’s, Bunnings Warehouse, Chemist Warehouse, CommBank, Domain, Google Search, McCafé, Snooze, Simparica Trio, and Youi.
Official suppliers include Beacon Lighting, Beaumont Tiles, BlueScope (TRUECORE® & COLORBOND® steel), e&s, Freedom Furniture, Freedom Wardrobes, Kinsman Kitchens, Reece, Flooring Xtra, and Stratco.
The Block provides brands a platform only the power of broadcast can provide. With the series building Total TV audiences over the past three years, there is no better way for brands to reach a highly-engaged audience at scale with a strong intent to purchase. Last season reached 14.8 million Australians (1.6 million per episode) and generated 1.5 billion minutes of live and catch-up viewing on 9Now.
“The evolution of our partnerships has become significantly more organic over the years,” said Sarah Stewart, Powered’s Director of Content Partnerships and Client Experience.
“Viewers have a strong desire to see the Blockheads renovating, so we bring brands directly into their day-to-day reality. By making these brands essential to the contestants’ daily routines – whether grabbing a coffee at McCafé or sourcing supplies at the onsite hubs – the integration feels completely authentic and advances the storyline naturally without breaking the fourth wall.”
Chery replaces fellow Chinese car brand MG as car sponsor.
SUNDAY, AUGUST 9 Guest Bedroom Reveal
Tonight it’s a Block record a body corporate has been called amongst a cheating scandal and the first room is yet to be revealed! The first room reveal gets underway, but the judges aren’t impressed by every team stating one team is not worthy of The Block.
McCafé opens for business as the Blockheads race toward their first room reveal, but the week quickly becomes defined by delays, pressure and a cheating scandal. While Houses 1 to 4 receive approval to paint, Rick and Tayla in House 5 fall behind after ongoing defects delay their pre-paint sign-off. Courtney and Sev push ahead with an ambitious guest bedroom featuring a timber ceiling, handmade bedhead and micro cement, while Adam and Jolene rely on layers of texture and colour to balance their white walls.
The drama escalates when Dan catches Chantel and Wyatt’s chippie painting, breaking one of The Block’s longest-standing rules. Although Chantel and Wyatt insist they did not realise it was forbidden, the discovery sparks outrage among the other teams. Tayla calls a record-breaking body corporate before the first room has even been revealed, and tensions rise further when a second body corporate is called to argue for penalties. With little support from the other contestants, Tayla is left exposed, while Wyatt is furious that his integrity has been questioned.
By Sunday morning, the teams are racing to finish before tools down. Houses 1, 2, 3 and 4 complete their rooms, but Rick and Tayla are unable to get everything done. Judges Shaynna Blaze, Marty Fox and guest judge Alice Stolz arrive for the first room reveals, where the feedback ranges from praise to blunt criticism.
Adam and Jolene impress the judges with a well-resolved room that understands the brief, despite Alice finding it slightly homogenised. Chantel and Wyatt’s room is criticised as dated and too safe, with the judges questioning whether they have considered the likely buyer. Courtney and Sev receive the strongest reaction for their bold, sensory design and willingness to take risks, although the micro cement on their wardrobe doors raise concerns. Lisa and Rosco are praised for texture and effort but marked down for material choices and technical execution.
Rick and Tayla receive the harshest critique, with the judges describing their room as bland, lacking texture, emotion, personality and soul. Alice delivers the most cutting assessment, saying they are not worthy of The Block. Courtney and Sev are ultimately named week one winners, taking home $10,000 from Chery, followed by Adam and Jolene, Lisa and Rosco, Chantel and Wyatt, and Rick and Tayla in last place.
Lisa and Rosco win the CommBank budget challenge, coming within $6 of their budget estimate, while Chantel and Wyatt are warned after spending $20,700. Week one ends on a bombshell, with the fallout from Chantel and Wyatt’s budget blowout sending them spiraling.

TV Week interview with Chantel and Wyatt
In Monday’s episode, Scott Cam and EP Julian Cress apologised to Chantel and Wyatt during their meeting at the share house. Julian explained that the accounting software had counted an invoice from Chantel and Wyatt’s builder twice, which led to an incorrect allegation that the couple had overblown their budget.
Also, the allocation of the five houses was decided during the episode, with a price guide of $3.6-3.9 million. The listings have gone live (spoilers alert for the listings).

UPDATE: the agents selling the five houses were revealed today.

So do Scott and Julian get an apology from Wyatt for him behaving like a tool and standing over them? S&J apologised, and as they said all of Australia now know that the mistake was made by production. Wyatt needs get over himself.
