The Bachelor Australia

Plus 10 are recycling so many reality stars this year. Was Survivor All Stars, Masterchef All Stars and Bachelor in Paradise not enough recycled contestants? Not to mention the hoard of celebrites on DWTS, Celeb and Masked Singer. Bachelor should have been a chance to put someone new, exciting and fresh. I could kind of understand it if Locky was a huge drawcard from Survivor but I don’t tihnk he is at all.

To be fair, looking at that pic above, he certainly fits The Bachelor mould better then some previous contestants (Matty/Richie).

How so?

Taller, darker, manly. Matty/Richie came across as more boyish/immature (especially Richie).

That’s what typical Australians like unfortunately.

How has it backfired?

Just general commentary and fatigue from the audience with the overexposure of certain 10 talent and celebrities across multiple shows. Started with Grant Denyer, then it was Chris & Julia, Osher Günsberg, Beau Ryan is another example (Takeaway, Melb Cup, TARA, Dancing etc), Angie Kent, Miguel Maestre etc.

Additionally - Celebrity Name Game ratings were down and it was dumped from the main channel with filmed episodes yet to air, and Dancing With The Stars figures is down on last year which I think they may have missed the mark a little this year with casting and that could be as a result of dwindling amount of available talent.

The continued use and recycling of “celebrities” across multiple programming or stunt casting previous reality talent across multiple stars I believe will have further implications for 10 down the track from a ratings perspective and viewers will continue to turn off from free to air television.

Very soon we could be seeing Sharna Burgess also being on that list if she was to be The Bachelorette.

The fact that almost all the shows are somewhat celebrity or all-star related just shows how uncreative they are at 10. Very soon no one will watch because of too much same same and nothing new.

I don’t think dancing or celeb name game are down because they have overexposed talent though. 10 had a game show with new talent 12 months ago and that didn’t end well either.

That’s understandable as there is close contact during dates and rose ceremonies.
Given the time required for post-production, we may not see this season until Q4.

and Locky has probably tried to kiss them all and Osher.

That’s my type of bachelor

Remote dating?

The Bachelor will make their production shutdown part of the story. Bachelor in Lockdown will show contestants dating via video apps as they continue to build connections.

ViacomCBS Australia & New Zealand Chief Content Officer & EVP Beverly McGarvey told today’s Herald Sun that the current season would resume filming very soon, but with new social distancing rules.

We will put that show back into production very soon, and we are talking to all the right (government and health) people, but what I would say with all of our shows, we are abiding by all the states’ and government rules on isolation and social distancing. If you do that you can keep working … if you’re willing to compromise certain things, you can get back (to work).
And also, I think the audience is willing to change expectations. We will adapt on The Bachelor and make some innovations to accommodate those restrictions.

For The Bachelor, it will air seasons 1 and 2 from the UK, season 2 and season 5 of The Bachelor Australia, season 3 in Canada and the first season of The Bachelor New Zealand.

The first season of the Canadian version of The Bachelorette and the third season of The Bachelorette Australia will air alongside the first season of the Australian remake of Bachelor in Paradise.

Looks like filming for the current season has restarted with Zoom dates.

What a complete waste of time. Just meet in person or don’t bother at all.
