The Amazing Race Australia

Is there a celeb version coming up? Em Rusciano mentioned on her podcast this week she was asked to compete with her husband Scott.

Great way to stick the final nail to the coffin if it’s true.

Sad thing is, they’d be thinking it’ll do the opposite

The Amazing Race China (four seasons from 2014 to 2017) involved at least one celebrity in each team.

Yeah and that didn’t even last as long as the Australian version.

The Chinese TV landscape is also a very different one compared to Australia (Ala the amount of cross-promotion and product placement they allow puts The Block to shame).

Heath and Toni’s new daughter Amelia was born via surrogate just before Easter.

Fantastic news for such an awesome, strong couple.

Sunday Herald Sun’s Fiona Byrne mentioned briefly in her column today that there would be a celebrity version this year.

From 10:

This year, the biggest race around the world is heading in a new direction in an exciting new series, The Amazing Race Australia Celebrity Edition. They say travel is the ultimate test of any relationship, and for the celebrities joining us this season, it will be no ordinary challenge. Our celebrities and their race partner will be met at the starting line by our larrikin host Beau Ryan, who will be sure to throw twists and turns their way as they race across the globe. From culture shock, meagre budgets and the pressure of a non-stop race, our star racers will be tested in ways we’ve never seen before.

Well that’s the nail in the coffin for the show. Nobody wants a celeb version.

Even more reason not to watch.

I’ll still watch but I don’t think he’s a great advert for the season. He can be quite funny but it’s more likely that he’ll be a disaster on the show…which could be quite funny in itself.

Looks like he won’t be on this series.

Iconic children’s performer and former Wiggle Emma Watkins continues to surprise us. Recently revealed as Zombie on The Masked Singer Australia, Emma and her sister Hayley are excited for Australia to see a different side to them.

Former Silverchair drummer Ben Gillies and his television personality wife Jackie Gillies are leaving their twin boys at home to compete in the race of a lifetime. Partners in love and life, they wouldn’t do the race with anyone else but each other.

Australian singer, actress, radio host, television personality and author Alli Simpson will be joined on the race by her “momager” Angie. As gym buddies and co-owners of a beauty and wellness brand, this mother daughter duo plan to use their strengths of fitness, athleticism, and switched-on mental attitude to get them to the end.

Reality TV and social media stars Harry Jowsey and Teddy Briggs have both tackled love in paradise and are ready for a new adventure. These cheeky larrikins and best mates may be big on laughs, banter and having fun, but can they use their charm and good looks to land them first place?

Australian stand-up comedians Peter Rowsthorn and Dane Simpson are used to packing out comedy clubs… but how will they fair with packed out airports? It will be a funny family affair with Peter bringing along his daughter Frankie and Dane bringing along his dad Bow.

No one knows strategy and tactics quite like the King of Bankstown and Australian Survivor royalty George Mladenov. Alongside his sister Pam, can the pair outwit, outlast, and outplay this competition?

Our celebrities and their race partners will be met at the starting line by loveable larrikin and host Beau Ryan, who will be sure to throw twists and turns their way as they race across the globe.

From culture shock, meagre budgets and the pressure of a non-stop race, our star racers will be tested in ways we’ve never seen before.

That is a great line-up.

Jana Pittman posted on Instagram this week that she spotted her new book at the newsagent at Sydney Airport. So it seems she was flying out for the celebrity edition.

So they are announcing the cast before it’s filmed? Odd.

I had a feeling that either this or The Traitors having celebs was a reason to bring George back on something. Ugh.

My initial thought was the opposite.

I think it’s an OK lineup. Going them though most teams (at least 9 of them) have someone that’s either been on I’m A Celeb before and/or another reality show in the past couple years.

Having him in the cast is a turn off for me.

I think the celebrity concept is pointless in this type of show. And in most cases it’s a celebrity with non-celebrity family member.
