The Amazing Race Australia

No but he was always saved by finding some hidden idol or the elimination being in his favour when it looked like he might go like a back up plan from the producers.

10’s latest publicity highlights say five teams will be remaining by the October 26 episode. If there is no more non-elimination leg, then the season finale should be on Thursday, November 2.

George Claws His Way Back. Ben and Jackie Get Nipped.

Ben and Jackie Gillies Eliminated From The Amazing Race Australia: Celebrity Edition.

After a virtual pit-stop in the tropical islands of Langkawi, our celebs raced on for the fifth leg of The Amazing Race Australia: Celebrity Edition. To say the celebrities were crabby, is an understatement. It is also a pun, because their first stop was at a crab farm.

The celebs have spent their adult life trying to avoid them, but today they are catching them. Using a net, they had to catch five fully grown crabs to receive their next clue.

Surprisingly, sisters Bec and Kate, knew a thing or two about a crab’s preference to chill by the banks, but getting them into the bucket was a whole other problem. Darren and Tristan managed to catch five crabs in one go, catapulting them to the front, followed closely by Jana and Cor.

George reminded anyone who would listen that he was no stranger to throwing challenges thanks to his time on Survivor (something he likes to remind us of). But unfortunately, George had a hard time blindsiding the crabs into his net, leaving the challenge in last place.

Meanwhile, the crabs weren’t the only ones headed to the pressure cooker, Ben and Jackie’s relationship was in there too, as the pressure of the Race became too much for the happy couple.

Next stop, the teams had to hustle to sell the crabs they caught. George had the great idea of weaponising his sisters’ good looks to charm potential customers, and it worked when two holidaying Aussie’s took pity on them.

It was a hot, stressful and exhausting day by the time our teams found out they would be camping on a beach for the night. These celebs are accustomed to five-star accommodation and pillow menus, but at this sandy abode, they were lucky to even get a pillow, let alone a mattress. Kate reminded Bec to smile as she was coming across as a princess, while George reminded everyone that this was luxury compared to what he endured on Survivor.

The next morning, after a 12-hour flight delay, our celebs arrived in Penang where they were faced with a detour. Those who chose Piles of Tiles had to use logic to solve a mahjong-themed puzzle, while Float Your Boat involved the spiritual Malay tradition of paper-boat making.

From there, it was a frenetic foot race to the Pit Stop. Alli and Angie hit the mat in first place, but sadly Ben and Jackie Gillies were last to arrive and were eliminated from the Race.

When the Race continues tomorrow night, the local cuisine will test our celebs like never before. Get the vomit bucket on standby…

Continues Thursday, 19 October At 7.30pm On 10 And 10 Play.

Finally the annoying twat is out

George Goes Down In George Town.

King George And Pam Eliminated From The Amazing Race Australia: Celebrity Edition.

Our seven remaining celebrity teams arrived in George Town, the vibrant capital of Penang, for the sixth leg of The Amazing Race Australia: Celebrity Edition. Sadly, George Town became George’s last Pit Stop. Here’s how the King and his sister Pam were dethroned…

Traveling by Trishaw, teams chose between replicating a delicate dessert at a Michelin-recommended restaurant or braving the local delicacy, bull’s penis soup.

Penis soup is a known aphrodisiac (um, we’d like to see the research on that) but the only thing our teams were feeling frisky for, was the vomit bucket. In the wise words of Darren McMullen, “they have some great wang in Penang”, but keeping it down was hard work. The vomiting erupted like dominoes, once one celeb started, the rest followed, vomiting on each other’s heads as they aimed for the bucket.

Teams then made their way to Mr. Wong’s shoe store where the legendary shoemaker Jimmy Choo began his craft to build a basic pair of shoes. Bec Judd is no stranger to a Jimmy Choo and was successful in her first attempt, meanwhile, sole mates Harry and Teddy got it wrong with Mr. Wong and had to try again.

While Pam was busy shoe making, George took the opportunity to strategise with Darren, who stomped all over that plan, reminding George that this was not Survivor. As the final two teams still at the challenge, George and Pam, and Harry and Teddy didn’t have time for any shoey’s, hustling hard not to finish last.

Next up, teams had to use sharp eyes and keen observation to search for a unique lantern amidst a sea of thousands of lanterns.

The adrenaline surged as teams raced up Penang Hill towards the Pit Stop. In a dramatic finish, Jana and Cor made it up the hill first, while George and Pam were last to hit the mat and were sadly eliminated.

Next Wednesday, our celebs head to Cambodia where one star’s biggest fear spells the end of their time on the Race.

Continues Wednesday, 25 October At 7.30pm On 10 And 10 Play.

The celebrity version will return next year.

Seriously? This season isn’t even rating that well. Why are they so obsessed with the celebrity version?

I guess they had enough success with this season so they’re trying it again. The idea of a Celebrity edition put me off but I have to admit that this season was actually more entertaining with the celebrities playing up to the cameras.

I haven’t been feeling this season of TARAus and am a big TAR fan.

Admittedly, I am one person, and 10 have to appeal to a broad audience, but I’ve missed a few eps and haven’t caught up, and I don’t think I will.

In contrast, the US version airing has been quite enjoyable (especially with the vibe being reminiscent of the older seasons of TAR - with airport drama and a more normal cast).

I agree. I was enjoying the Celeb version until I started the new US version on the weekend. It’s a lot better.

This season has been one of the best. The personalities (of the celebrities) make the show. Though of course it had been tough during those COVID years to produce the show.

Yeah. All the teams catching COVID and dropping out for a few episodes really mucked it up last season.

Hopefully they go to a lot of different locations next season though. Don’t want to see it be repetitive.

Asia this time, perhaps Europe next time? Such a good mix of celebrities this year, although I wonder if Emma Memma (former Wiggle) has something in her contract that prevents them showing her in a bad light, such as swearing. Or perhaps she’s just as perfect as she seems on tv. Either way, I’m enjoying watching her and her sister.

I disagree with the take, but I respect your opinion.

I also think it is a low bar being set by the other seasons (the first season of any show will almost always be a bit wonky (there were growing pains in the 2019 season), and the last few struggled with the issues from producing a travel show in COVID, as well as the extended format (20+ episodes) of the 2021 (Aussie season) & 2022 season of TARAus). You could argue that any season could be a personal favourite compared to each other. But comparing it to other TAR shows, these seasons feel a bit below average.

The Ch10 version of TARAus especially pales in comparison to the old Ch7 version TARAus.

And watch Hunted become celeb edition next

I was sort of enjoying this season despite Beau and it being stuck in Asia, though I had to throw in the towel on Wednesday’s ep during the Mahjong tile challenge when Darren & Tristan (who I like btw) blatantly cheated and roped in a women to basically do the challenge for them. WTF? What happened to perseverance or taking a rigged time penalty?

I will say props to all those on Survivor who had to live with George and resisted the urge to harm him. Pam is a saint.

Thankfully the US version has found it groove back and added airport flight drama.

But is there anything in the rules about not asking locals for help in challenges?

A-Bec-nophobia: An Influencer’s Irrational Fear Of Deep Fried Spiders.

Bec Judd and Kate Twigley Eliminated From The Amazing Race Australia: Celebrity Edition.

The Amazing Race Australia: Celebrity Edition continued in Angkor Wat, Cambodia where six remaining teams got a disgusting (seriously, how are we allowed to do this to them?) taste for Cambodian life that saw sisters Bec Judd and Kate Twigley call time on their Race. This was the seventh leg of the race, but it was eight legs that ruined it all.

A spiritual journey led the teams into one of the largest religious structures in the world to search for enlightenment with a real-life Monk. Teams had to bring an offering to a monk that they could only see from the highest point of the site.

Race besties Darren and Tristan and Bec and Kate have formed somewhat of an alliance. In a move that would make former racer King George proud, the alliance chose to give Emma and Hayley a bum steer by telling them to go the wrong way. But karma was on their side when Emma and Hayley managed to overtake Bec and Kate while enroute to the next challenge.

Next up, some teams’ fighting spirit were tested while learning some local martial arts, while others had to build a traditional spirit house.

Remember the bull’s penis eating challenge? Well, that was child’s play compared to what the teams endured next. This was the moment that every celebrity questioned why they decided to go on the Race.

Teams had to channel their inner MasterChef, needing to cook a meal before consuming said meal. On the menu today, three deep fried tarantulas plus four bowls of assorted bugs and grubs. Hayley cried her way through her leggy meal and Angie gagged with every chomp. Meanwhile, Tristan just wolfed it down like it was nobody’s business.

When Bec and Kate spotted the tarantulas, it was all over. Bec Judd suffers from arachnophobia, and despite Kate being the one to do the eating, she couldn’t bear to be in the same vicinity as the spiders, so they decided to take the time penalty which resulted in a 60 minute time penalty upon reaching the Pit Stop.

Darren and Tristan were first to reach the Pit Stop but sadly, thanks to their time penalty, Bec and Kate were officially last to check in.

Tomorrow night, batten down the hatches for the tightest Race to the finish thus far. It’s all fun and games until someone comes last.

Rules say that locals can help in navigation and tasks.

Glad that the time penalty was long enough to eliminate the team that used it tonight.

Why was it this time the team that didn’t complete the roadblock had to serve the time penalty at the pit stop rather than at the task location?

And the building traditional spirit house detour task was very similar to the fruit basket roadblock in Langkawi in episode 4.
