Saw an interview with Jim Jeffries on TMS today. Looks like it might be worth watching.
He’s an interesting choice of host.

He is very good as a host, a natural.

It is most likely a 8:30 show rather than a 7:30 show so Jim’s comedy and crass language would be more likely to feature.

Are you in The 1% Club?

New comedy quiz show proves it’s not what you know, but how you think

Put your money where your mouth is and see if you are smarter than 99% of the population in The 1% Club, coming soon to Channel 7 and 7plus.

A game show like no other, The 1% Club promises to deliver an entertaining and hilarious experience as people of all ages and backgrounds find out if they are of the first order. Unlike most quizzes, general knowledge isn’t what it takes to excel, but logic and common sense.

Australian comedian Jim Jefferies brings his trademark wit as host, injecting each episode with a healthy dose of laughter. The perfect fit for this boundary-pushing quiz show, Jefferies is known for his irreverent style and ability to find humour in even the most controversial topics.

One hundred contestants begin every show, but to make it to the end and win the top prize, contestants must correctly answer a question only 1% of the country would get right. Navigating wordplays, everyday facts and pop culture references, contestants are first asked a question that 90% of the country got right (based on a sample of answers given by people across Australia) and then progress to questions that smaller and smaller percentages answered correctly.

To get to the end, and have their shot at up to $100,000, contestants will have to bring their A-game to win big and join the elite ranks of the 1%.

The 1% Club is produced by BBC Studios Australia and New Zealand from a format created by Magnum Media and distributed by BBC Studios.

I think this will air on Thursday nights from late April, after the first batch of Thursday night AFL matches have been completed (last match is April 13).

If Seven are clever they will air this on Wednesday 7.30. Thursdays will come to them without even trying. They need to rebuild Sun-Wed.

Agree; Seven need to build their line-up early in the week where they are becoming uncompetitive after 7.30pm.

I remember watching an episode of UK Gogglebox on Foxtel where they were watching the UK version of this. It looked interesting. However after seeing the promo for the Aussie version last night, I’ve been completely put off by the host. He doesn’t feel like the right fit.

If they aired it that early, Jim would have to tone down much of his trademark humour

Admittedly I am interested in the concept, will give it a try. I don’t have a clue who the host is, but that is not necessarily a bad thing as will have an open mind.

It’s a tough timeslot for the premiere episode up against the new season of Travel Guides. Perhaps for the first episode it could have been given a post reality timeslot like on ANZAC Tuesday when Seven should have a big post afternoon AFL audience. Instead of wasting it on a US drama.

“Aussie Comedy Superstar”

Certainly…stretching it…

Since Jim has filmed comedy shows on Comedy Central and Netflix (which is no mean feat), then yes he is a comedy superstar.

I’m not bashing him I think he must be well known but I wouldn’t say superstar.

Really…
