Thank God You’re Here (2023)

I came here to say the same!

It sort of felt like they didn’t want him to do this or weren’t going expecting him to. I actually prefer when they split it.

Hamish’s scene actually poked fun at 10’s very small sporting line-up and the network’s failure to gain the rights to major sports like the AFL, NRL and cricket over the past decade. He absolutely nailed it.

BTW, last Wednesday’s episode was reviewed on Gogglebox this week.

Hamish and Ross were hilarious. Even Emma held up better than I thought she would.

Next week’s line up should be solid too. Can only imagine how uncut Marty will be :joy:

The show doesn’t do nudity

Tonight’s lineup is the strongest they’ve had so far. The guests actually engaged with their scenes, minimal long-pauses and stumbling as well.

Except for the one who used “China” as a punchline for every joke.

Looking forward to seeing Michelle Brasier go through the Blue door, she’s great in the Aunty Donna content.

Yeah, who was that? I didn’t think she was that good tbh.

Yes, some of the comedians are excruciatingly bad - but that’s part of the show that some are no good at improv. But when you have some of the quality performances like we saw last night, it makes you appreciate them more.

Another aspect I like they’re doing is that it’s not 100% just Have You Been Paying Attention regulars.

Sure plenty are, but there aren’t that many opportunities for tv appearances in Aus for some comedians who aren’t the “regulars” on panel shows, giving others a chance is a good opportunity for them - some will perform great, others will find improv isn’t thing thing.

Separately, I’d actually like to see one or two of the former Mad as Hell cast make an appearance.

Michelle Brasier (who will feature on next week’s episode) is a former cast member of Mad as Hell.

This week’s guest judge is Peter Helliar.

Couldn’t pick a more unfunny person to do this.

I think we know what we’re getting with Helliar - it’s daggy dad schtick.

Meanwhile Marty Sheargold is better than I expected, enjoy seeing him in a scenario like this

Frankie, Lloyd, Julia And Joel, Thank God You’re Here.

Wednesday, 13 September at 7.30pm On 10 And 10 Play.

Welcome to the show where grown-ups play pretend.

Next Wednesday, host Celia Pacquola will take great glee in pushing Frankie McNair, Lloyd Langford, Julia Zemiro, and Joel Creasey through the Thank God You’re Here blue door.

Presided over by one yet-to-be revealed iconic judge, four of Australia’s top comedic talents will bluff their way through five wildly weird scenarios in the ultimate quick-wit challenge.

With no idea what’s waiting on the other side, will Julia Zemiro’s second stint this season be just as outrageous as the last? There’s only one way to find out!
