I’m very happy with Djokovic and Thiem both being in the final. I like them both. Personally though I really want Djokovic to eventually overtake Nadal/Fed in Grand Slam wins so would love to see him do this and get that bit closer to them.

Agreed to an extent. I think Thiem will be a better match-up for Djokovic.

A friend had a spare ticket to the women’s final tonight so I’m going. Pumped!!!

And she will move to No.7 in WTA rankings, above Serena Williams. Ashleigh Barty will still be No.1.

It’s an 8th Australian Open Title for Novak Djokovic after beating Austrian DOminic Thiem in 5 set thriller. Dominic THiem has been exceptional during the tournament. He caused upset wins over Rafael Nadal and Alex Zverev.

So glad that Djokovic got there in the end! He’s only 2 slams off matching Nadal and 3 off Federer. If he keeps playing so well enough could take top spot next year. I really grew to like Thiem this tournamenet though and I reckon we will see a lot more of him in the coming year.

Also had a great time attending my first Grand Slam final on Saturday with Kenin vs Muguruza. I had great seats too only about 10 rows back. Loved it.

What was the attendance like last night at RLA?

Looked pretty packed, Men’s Final usually sells out instantly months in advance

The Men’s Final would have been completely sold out well in advance.

The Women’s Final Rod Laver Arena felt pretty much full, however the reason I got tickets was because Tennis Australia on Saturday were giving tickets to some people who play for Tennis Australia (my friend was playing in the Glam Slam on the outer courts during the final weekend). I’m not sure if these were alreday reserved but assumed this was to fill a bunch of the empty seats that didn’t sell.

Regardless the 2018 Australian Open had record crowds with over 810,000 attendee’s. Which is pretty good given the range of weather we’ve had over the 2 weeks (from hot days, to cold days, to rain, wind and storms).

Sharapova will be a guest judge on the US version of Shark Tank this Friday.

I watched the Davis Cup match and noticed that Australia has beaten Brazil 6-7, 7-6, 7-6 in adelaide. This was a thrilling match where it went for over 2.5 hours.

Both the doubles and the reverse singles rubber went to the distance today. Great tennis.

Well done to the Australian men. The Davis Cup is as important as Grand Slams and key ATP events.

Seems that French Open organisers announced the new dates without consulting other bodies.
