Another local upstaging a champion!
Tomljanovic v Kerber, what a bloody match!
update
That’s hard to accept Well done Kerber, she’s back! The former Australian Open champion. Bad luck to Tomljanovic, she played amazing (her injuries look a distant thing), but had her chances, could’ve closed it out before the final few points too!

Palestinian flags will effectively be banned from the Australian Open in a move designed to stop disruptive protests. Under the rules, spectators can only wave national flags at matches if a player from that country is competing. https://t.co/VZ3A1cHvFd #7NEWS pic.twitter.com/x2MJkwHs94

AO director and Tennis Australia (TA) chief executive Craig Tiley clarified the rule on Saturday, and also confirmed the continued ban of the Russian and Belarusian flags, maintaining a decision backed by Australia and 30 other nations to prohibit Russian and Belarusian flags and anthems at sporting events in the wake of Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.
I really wonder if ATP/WTA will ban players participating under the Israeli flag like they did with Belarus/Russia?
Demon gets the 2nd! Off to a decider and possibly a tie deciding doubles at the UC.
Meanwhile, Dimitrov on top of Thompson at Brisbane in the 1st
Although he lost the first set, he’s playing so well.
Top 10 for the first time for Demon if he wins this match!
Amazing De Minaur!!!
One win away from the UC Final!
A very late start for the doubles match too. And there’s still some crowd there to cheer them on.
We are heading to a deciding tiebreak in the mixed doubles
Let’s go Storm and Matt!! Very lucky to win that set, Siegemund and Zverev playing incredible.
Siegemund/Zverev win and Germany head to the final.
Well done in the UC Aussies!!
Alex de Minaur has staked a spot in the world's top 10 following his sensational win over world No. 7 Alexander Zverev in the United Cup semi-finals. #9News

Just to put it into context, for all the publicity and popularity (or lack there of in some circles) of Nick Kyrgios, he was only able to make a career high ATP ranking of World No. 13 and that was back in 2016 (not even less than 2 years ago after reaching the Wimbledon final).
Alex, the underrated quiet hard worker, has achieved a better ranking with still his peak to arrive and if he can work on a better skill set, he’ll go far.
But most of all, got to love the attitude
That Wimbledon tournament was an exhibition tournament, with the ATP/WTA not awarding points because the tournament barred entry from Russian/Belarussian athletes.
Withdrawing from one tournament while in the middle of a match in another tournament? Bold.
(I have just realised that this was probably captured during a replay. Play on)
I’ll call that a “let”. Second serve, AA
Germany are the 2024 United Cup Champions, beating Poland 2-1.
