It will all come down to injuries. We were saying the same thing about Nadal last year after he won the AO and RG. He was in peak form, then things came to an abrupt end. Similar thing with Federer a few years prior.
Looks like we are in for decades where the GOATs are 2 duds; Margaret Court and Novak Djokovic. Such a shame how close it was to being 2 great champions; Serena Williams and Nadal.
I think if most of those detractors were forced to choose between Serena or Margaret as their champion most would choose Serena.
Imo Serena’s controversies are isolated events that are acceptable for someone under high scrutiny for a quarter of a century. No one is perfect. Margaret is just a plain rotten person.
Some sad revelations overnight, historic however, about Kyrgios’ previous mental health demons and what he went through at a Grand Slam (Sunrise was one that did a piece this morning)
As much as I’m with you on Margaret, I would say Serena’s controversies are not isolated events, she continually had these thing happen and never admitted fault with any of them. That what really annoyed me about her, just so entitled., thinking she didn’t do anything wrong.
That US Open final Stosur outplayed her always make me smile when I think about it.
She finally won a slam in 2018, winning the Aussie Open in a thriller against Simona Halep and to popularity. Seven caller Basil Zempilas “how sweet it is for Caroline” and the PA was blasting out Neil Diamomd’s Sweet Caroline into RLA after her victory.
The major tournaments held in Australia in the 2024 calendar (released by ATP) were confirmed back in March, the dates are:
United Cup
starts 28 Dec 2023 ATP 250 event (unnamed - Adelaide Intl Week 1??)
starts 31 Dec 2023 Adelaide International
starts 8 Jan 2024 Australian Open
main draw starts 15 Jan 2024
As good as tbe Unietd Cup is for Sydney, it would be nice if the Sydney International returns too, so us Sydneysiders can experience the matches on the outdoor courts again.
Oh boy, 2023 Wimbledon keeps providing the frustration… A classic overnight, going as anticipated, with Sir Andy Murray 2 sets up over Tsitsipas, but suspended due to the controversial curfew
Aussie Christopher O’Connell is through to R3 at Wimbledon, after a stunning straight sets victory! Bandwagon, oi oi oi

de Minaur and Kubler (latter put up a fight) went down overnight, O’Connell the lone ranger in the singles. There’s still quite a few Aussie hopefuls for the various doubles.

Australia’s last singles hope at Wimbledon Chris O’Connell went down overnight, but in unfortunate fashion losing three tie breaks, as the Aussie did really well, but his American opponent was too powerful hitting and also comes off a recent tournament win.
Meanwhile, the UK’s last remaining also failed to progress in Katie Boulter (and Alex de Minaur’s partner).
So Novak Djokovic has gotten to another Grand Slam final,woo-pie doo👎
I know he’s officially now the GOAT in men’s tennis but I like to see another men’s champion for a change.Carlos Alcaraz has to play his best tennis ever,I really want him to win.
Marketa Voundrousova is the Wimbledon Women’s Singles champion after defeating Ons Jabeur in straight sets. She becomes the first unseeded player to win Wimbledon in the Open Era.
