Announcing it at 5 minutes to 6pm on a Friday - wow

I don’t agree with Novak’s stance on vaccinations and how he lied on the paperwork, but the real problem here is how much of a failure of process there has been. The poor bloke has been made to sit around for days on end waiting for an outcome on his visa to be revealed.

As they say the big stories always break late on a Friday afternoon.

Statement

Big news indeed.

He’s anything but a ‘poor bloke’. All of this was completely within his control.

On Nine the reporter said that by announcing it on Friday night, it will be extremely difficult for Djokovic’s lawyers to get an injunction on the decision before Monday.

Exactly. Just get vaccinated.

Hopefully the delay in cancelling his visa was because the government was dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s so they’re as prepared as possible for anything his lawyers might come up with.

Is he for real?

A

The tennis star’s legal team has indicated they intend to file an injunction against the minister’s decision in a bid to allow him to stay and play in the Australian Open

I wouldn’t classify him as “poor”. He’s very wealthy. He has experienced high priced lawyers and he has been out and about and training at Melbourne Park. Not sure he’s being treated like any other refugee.

Sorry but he lied. There are more holes in his story than a block of Swiss cheese.

The most enjoyable part is seeing him squirm. Yes yes I’m engaging in a case of schadenfreude but who cares.

So does that mean he goes back into detention, from this moment until a injunction is filed on Monday?

The time and day this is being announced is a really big FU to his legal team lol.

Well there is one of two ways it can go:

  1. He is deported tonight
  2. Nothing really changes because his lawyers get an injunction on the deportation

Sit around for days is considered to be bad? Plenty of people didn’t even get days to appeal this they just get deported as soon as there was a flight. He actually had lawyers who helped him overturn that so I don’t know how that makes him ‘poor’ when others in a similar situation couldn’t even get a chance to defend themselves.

As for failure of the process, this bloke tried to game the system rather than apply for a genuine exemption so if the outcome wasn’t what he wanted then suck it. If you’re genuinely exempt by law then we welcome you, if you’re not exempt but try to cheat your way in just get out.

Good decision by Alex Hawke. We cannot let someone like him getting away with cheating the system to get it just because they think they’re above everything and anything. If the rules say he must be vaccinated or properly exempt, he should be. Don’t like it? Don’t come here.

I expect there will be revolt tonight on the streets of Melbourne with this outcome. His parents will no doubt shag Australia and call it a ‘draconian and ruthless dictatorship’ or something.

He (well his legal team) will at least be able to lodge the injunction (which will keep him in the country, albeit probably in some sort of detention) - whether it gets heard before Monday or not will be a different story

One thing you can put your money on is that his first match will be scheduled for Tuesday…

What about the people who have been in immigration detention (for a considerable period of time now) in the same hotel that ABF put Novak in? Or the Biloela family who have spent the best part of several years in immigration detention (including at Christmas Island by themselves) while the Government drags their case the slowest and longest way possible?

In comparison to some, the speed at which they’ve dealt with Novak’s case has been supersonic.

As they say, announce it late on a Friday afternoon to avoid the major scrutiny of the media who are off for the weekend.

Nothing poor about him. He has a net worth over $US220 million.
