Yeah, NBL probably doesn’t fit into the “10Peach Comedy” theme
Some of South East Melbourne’s games would have last year. Comically bad at times.
Kudos for having it on the main channel. It will be interesting to see how it would rate, compared to the travel/ cooking shows that air in the Sunday arvo slot atm.
Would a wrap up show (aka “post match”) be the lead in to the 5pm News in some cities, or a filler cooking show at 4.30pm?
It’s a nice idea but I’d imagine the NBL wouldn’t produce it as they’d be transferring across to the 4:30pm ESPN exclusive game.
My point really is that it reduces the audience watching any NBL through Ten by up to half because they have dropped a game with only two teams getting exposure each week, as opposed to four.
NBL is not on the same level as cricket or AFL where a decent chunk of the audience tune in regardless of whether their favourite team is playing in that match or not.
In this day and age, particularly on Ten, the potential extra audience on Ten as opposed to Peach is pretty minimal. I don’t think their 5pm news (lead out) even gets 200k these days (5-city metro)?
Just a small observation about the posting of sports news on socials, both in general and Olympics, where they are using the 10 Sport brand rather than 10 News First which seems to be new.

There will be two games with 10 Bold Drama screening the second game of the double header.
NBL Gets Bold.
The relationship between the NBL and Network 10 is set to grow, with the 4:30pm Sunday game to be broadcast live and in high definition on 10 BOLD this season.
It follows the exciting announcement of the NBL’s return to a main free-to-air channel for the first time in a decade, with the 2:30pm marquee Sunday game to be broadcast on Channel 10 in high definition.
The addition of the 10 BOLD game at 4:30pm means Sunday double-headers will be available to more Australians and basketball lovers, as Network 10 remains the free-to-air home of the NBL.
“Network 10 have been tremendous partners of our League, and we are thrilled to see that commitment and trust in our game continue with the addition of the 10 BOLD games on Sunday afternoon,” NBL Chief Strategic Partnerships and Investment Officer Brad Joyner said.
“This is yet another sign of major validation in the League’s growth and direction, and we look forward to another strong campaign of expanding the NBL’s footprint across Australia.
“I want to thank Network 10’s Beverley McGarvey, and her entire team, for their continued support in the NBL and can’t wait to see Sunday’s double-headers come to life.”
Adam Cush, Sport Production Director, Paramount Australia and New Zealand said: “We are thrilled to expand our partnership with the NBL by broadcasting a second match every week on 10 BOLD and 10 Play.
“Ensuring broad reach on free-to-air, we are committed to showcasing the NBL in innovative ways and exposing it to a plethora of programming opportunities across all our platforms.”
The NBL’s broadcast audience increased by 26 percent this past season, off the back of a similar rise last season. The League is has also come off a landmark year for attendances with 40 sell-outs across the campaign, more than a million attendees at games for the first time in League history, and crowds up by 11 percent.
The 2024/25 Hungry Jack’s NBL Season begins in Perth with the inaugural HoopsFest from September 19-22. The season opener will be a Championship Series re-match between Melbourne United and the Tasmania JackJumpers at 8:30pm AEST at RAC Arena on Thursday, September 19.
The first Channel 10 game of the season will be the Adelaide 36ers v Sydney Kings at HoopsFest on September 22, while the first 10 BOLD game will come in round two when the New Zealand Breakers host the South East Melbourne Phoenix on September 29.
Good result for the second match to be made available on FTA (and HD for most areas), but another example why the rebrand of Bold doesn’t make sense when it’s dropped for live sport.
Drama should have been a positioner for a tagline / marketing campaign - renaming the channel was an absolute waste of time and money.
If u look at the NBL Insta post or their website, they are calling it 10Bold & not 10Bold Drama. So that’s probably why they didn’t rebrand the channel as 10Drama because if they are showing sport on that channel then it doesn’t make sense. Now they can still call it 10Bold and just drop the ‘Drama’ part from the name
Yes, as per the picture posted above as well - point being that its not a great rebrand when part of the new channel name needs to be dropped for events such as live sport.
Good to see a double header of the NBL on Sunday afternoons. Even if it’s a channel change at 4.30pm.
The 2.30pm match on 10 is great. At 4.30pm, am hoping that a simple watermark will advise fans to switch over to 10Bold for game 2.
Odd that this year’s NBL deal was announced in 2 stages.
I guess it had something to do with the A-League moving to a Saturday double header, whether it was 10 or the A-League pushing that. Probably a good idea to not have 2 sports on 10 channels competing with each other anyway.
Have surprisingly seen a couple of NBL promos tonight shown during Project / Amazing Race.
Sunday Hoops Is Back On 10.
The Biggest NBL Action Bounces Off From 2.30pm This Sunday. Live And Free On 10 And 10 Play.
Sunday Hoops is back and bigger than ever.
The biggest matches of the 2024/2025 Hungry Jack’s NBL season will be available live and free on 10, 10 Bold and 10 Play when Sunday Hoops kick off this weekend.
We’re delivering all the courtside action and even a few attempts to break the backboard (not recommended, but exciting) when the NBL returns to a free-to-air channel for the first time in a decade, starting this Sunday at 2.30pm on Channel 10 when the Adelaide 36ers take on the Sydney Kings.
But wait, there’s more. Starting Sunday, 29 September, we’ve got a double dose of NBL goodness when round two commences. On 10, catch the Sydney Kings vs Illawarra Hawks from 2.30pm and at 4.30pm, head on over to 10 Bold when the New Zealand Breakers host the South East Melbourne Phoenix.
Two games, one afternoon – it’s like we’re personally throwing alley-oops into your weekend plans. The Sunday double-headers on 10 at 2.30pm, and 10 Bold at 4.30pm, will also be simulcast on 10 Play.
So, whether you’re a die-hard fan, a casual viewer, or just someone who thinks “dribbling” should only refer to babies, 10, 10 Bold and 10 Play have got the court covered. Visit 10 Play for the full Sunday Hoops season fixture.

How was the coverage of today’s NBL - the first round - on 10? I sadly missed it. Anything new? Or same as it’s previous airings (on 10Bold)?
It’s not a specialised broadcast. It’s the same thing that’s being shown on ESPN.
Aaah, okay. That makes sense. Thanks.
Would be interesting to see if the main channel airing gains extra regular viewers.
