Before my time…. I was 9. What happened back then.
Well someone was saying earlier that there were a few glitches during TBYG at the same time everything else was happening, so the glich might happen again if it was a problem with the playlist because after it was too late to play the episode of FBI they probably forgot about it.
You’d assume they checked over all copies of the 10 feeds nationally
FTA seems fine in Vic. Likely they just need to get the link back up to the stream. Probably the least of their worries right now
10Play seems to keep throwing in preroll/ad break ads.
I’m guessing 10Play’s Nick stream won’t return until the morning in that case
You would be right. The one thing I would say is please dont say people were “asleep” and “didnt care”.
These people are good friends and care about what happens in thier job. And they are not idiots or whatever will get said. Its a miracle they got it back so quick.
Some of you can be downright dismissive. Please remeber there are people behind the scenes that deserve respect for the work they put in.
You’d hope so but if there’s only 2 people then they’d be trying to work out the current mess, not the next one.
Welcome to overnight monitoring in 2025
I was also 9 (I turned 10 a few days after), but I used to oddly at that age enjoy Blue Heelers and would play-back the VHS recording, my parents loved it. There was a thrilling story arc (where star Rachel Gordon’s real-life husband actor turned out to be the serial killer).
The Seven broadcast centre in Docklands had a power surge and it knocked the network offline for some time, eventually a white screen with the 7 logo was put up. Perth had Home and Away or something.
I believe an engineer had to drive out to Epping (pre Jones Bay and Eveleigh and infancy of Martin Place days) in Sydney.
edit just realised I was actually *8 turning 9 LOL.

Well I can bring some more info in.
Turns out one of the main playout servers had some issues. And the backup didnt kick in properly. So it went nuts and only played what was still there…. As in what the playout could see.
Imagine Plex loosing its connection to its server on your network and being only abke to play local files..(over simplification i know but its the best reference I can think of)
Everyone scrambled and and they worked a few miracles to get it restored.
(I have to be deliberately vague, sorry all, friend could get in trouble)
So they’re operating off a backup-backup or is main playout restored (?)
No that’s your internet. Various factors like internet speed, location of your node etc. all impact what you see on live streams. It’s not like FTA. Buffering, timings, network congestion all contribute which is why you’re seeing a delay across the two windows. That’s not 10. No one will be synced across two streams.
Was it in any way related to overheating?
(Earlier in the year, France also had a breakdown of this scale and it was because of that)
Backup didnt kick in and they got the main back. It played what was locally cached. IE ads and then everything else errored
I’m just amazed we’ve gotten as much infomation as we have. I’ve always assumed internal playout stuff is supposed to be kept secret.
Well we are called MediaSpy for a reason
I am not sure, but I think it was more a software crash
It is, but ive tried to give as much as I can without revealing any internal stuff i know. Sorry if a little vague. Can’t reveal much as it could reveal my contact and issues coukd occur.
Im doing my best without making anything indentifiable and getting anyone in trouble, i know the actual details but cant be too specific.
