That’s a design choice - not “laziness”
It’s a lazy one. Surely nobody at 10 looked at that and thought anything more than “that’ll do”
Okay oh wise one , what would you have done ? I like it because it’s simple and effective and not overly done.
Happy to see your mock of a better promo?
I explained what I would have done in my original reply.
I don’t think having show names appear for one second each in a generic font against a coloured background is an effective way of promoting your slate and having viewers actually remember it.
Why don’t they use the actual logo for the show and put it over a clip? Or even just the logo over the coloured background? I’m sure it’s not beyond their ability, but for whatever reason they didn’t. If it’s a design choice, I don’t think it’s a good one and it feels lazy to me.
I think the first 25 seconds of the promo is fine. It’s the 15 second slideshow I don’t like.
Actually I’m pretty sure studies have been done for television shows that text is a lot more legible when a promo of multiple brands is shown. Not sure where you have been the past 15 years but other networks have been doing it for years. Nine has done it numerous times over the years.. example:
@TV.Cynic will no doubt able to show more recent full network promos where it’s been text for show names
It’s pretty common especially when there is quite a list of shows. Less so if there are just 4 or 5 because each then will get some cips of the show.

Just look at all these “lazy” networks!
Great promo. But who will see it? No one is watching 10!
With these ones, the text is a lot more prominent. ABC has some nice imagery behind theirs and 10s has motion graphics. These are a lot better than 10s most recent go with small text on a static background.
Even the Nine example MBB posted has movement on the text and background effects.
