The general sentiment of this is that ratings are now so low they can experiment and take risks, because it couldn’t really get much worse. Although it’s basically just saying to become more like what The Project was.
If 10 are causing viewers to switch to 7/9 at 6pm and watch the news there they’ll have no need to watch the 5pm bulletin on 10. (Although have 7/9 seen any boost in their 6pm ratings?)

At this point there isnt much Ten could schedule in that slot without resorting to US programming as a quick fix solution.
I think that this show needs to make it through to at least December so that Ten can formulate a quality replacement. If they can do that, then Ten could revise the format of this show as a weekly program.
We keep saying the only thing that rates at 6pm is news, but Ten has tried news with a slightly different focal point - offering news a little differently, but it hasnt worked. Ten needs 2 x 30 minutes shows between 6pm and 7pm. Perhaps something similar to Tens news revolution - it didnt wotk before because Seven and Nine offered 30 minute news products at 6pm, now their news product is 1 hour. The secret is to deliver the news differently - a compact news bulletin plus an ACA style show. Try current affairs then news and if its not delivering, news at 6, current affairs at 6:30.
The post 6pm news needs to be the biggest stories of the day of interest to the entire country.

But I see most people on this forum don’t wink an eye at the cringe that’s actually offered up on news telecasts on other networks

Firstly, people can have different views. The forum doesn’t speak as one. Some will say more news and some say less. I don’t think anyone said news at six though.
I think 10 should do more news but in viable and competitive slots and not at the expense of resourcing the local 5pm bulletin.

Have you seen the program they are putting on - no one here was advocating for the type of program 10 has given us.
People have been calling out other networks for years, and will continue to do so.

Personally i think a half hour bulletin independent of 5pm could work, cutting out all the fluff from the bulletin. I also think the afternoon news should start at 3pm and Ten should air a newshour at 11am.
If Ten did the above, they could move the 8:30am to midday programs up an hour and a half, cooking show at 10:30am and Wheel Of Fortune US at 12pm and Lingo at 2pm
What happened to Georgie Tunny joining this show? She did 1 story/interview 2 weeks ago and hasn’t been seen since!
