It was a fine recap of the court case, anyone who has been following the podcasts would be completely familiar with all of that. There was nothing in the pre-recorded package that couldnt have been aired before the verdict.
You say that the show needs time, but I could have told you these hires were bizarre, let alone have them fronting your program. There is a difference between finding your feet and bad decisions.
Amelia is an award wining journo who has a global name for herself huge grab for 10 as is Denham in his own right these hires prove 10 is wanting hard hitting
Amelia is a good journalist. But Seven hardly regarded them as its best. Hugh Riminton would be very trusted amongst 10ās audience. Even Dan Sutton himself would have been a better choice.
Careful on the global award winning stuff. Iāve never heard of her before this show.
No Aussie journos have global award profiles. Some bigger names in the US and UK might be known around the media traps. Thatās about it. The market here is tiny.
Nobody is suggesting 10 didnāt want hard hitting (and its arguably why the show is not resonating with audiences) but these two fronting the program are journalists, not presenters.
I tuned in tonight specifically to see if there had been any improvements and catch their Mushroom Trial coverage, but turned off straight afterwards, Denham is excruciating to watch trying to act natural presenting in a studio based format.
Whoever thought otherwise with getting him to front the program mustāve seen something else weāre not. Great journo, terrible presenter.
Always a bad sign when the line gets trotted out. This should should be a one hour weekly programme. Itās clearly not fit for purpose as a nightly strip.
But this has nothing to do with international journalists. So donāt think you can compare the two. Different markets , different saturation of news programs and styles .
I really feel like Ten are trying to the us style of reporting , quite frankly it just doesnāt seem to translate well.
I think that with time 10 News+ could grow into an excellent program. However even if it is fine tuned into an outstanding program, that doesnāt mean that audiences are going to want it at 6pm 6 nights a week.
Younger audiences (who 10 are supposedly trying to target) have shorter attention spans than ever. They obtain their news in bite sized clips. Theyāre not wanting to sit down for heavy hitting, in depth current affairs every night.
I really do think the program would work well once a week, but there just isnāt an appetite for it 6 times a week.
That said, even if ratings are way below the project, if it costs much less to produce 10 News+, 10 may be happy with the result
To be honest they should have tried it as a weekly show. Experiment with it . I will still watch it because I do think it has potential and helps me fall asleep after drinking
