Ten News +

I still haven’t worked out what the compelling reason is to watch; the content is very similar to multiple products and not notably better at this stage. Content quality and interest seems to be hit and miss. Tonight featured so many stories described as “headlines” with minimal reporting then really long form stories that went too long. The headlines should have had follow up stories, but that would have meant more reporters. You can really see how much cheaper this is to produce compared to The Project. Will be interesting to see how Georgie fits into the line-up.

I hate when a current program takes itself too seriously. I’m watching ACA because I want to see neighbours at war, I want dole bludger shame pieces, I want corrupt business owners exposed, really lowbrow stuff that holds no importance to the news cycle but audiences still get a kick out of being exposed to.

10 News + isn’t lasting into the new year, not a chance

The Project was clearly a higher quality production with a more experienced team behind it, which I guess is why it cost too much.

Also Sarah and Waleed were quite natural live presenters and interviewers, whether you liked them or not they were actually quite good at what they did. It all feels so forced and awkward with Amelia and Denham.

Sunrise had a story on the crocodile culling bill this morning.

The kind of stuff i want to see is politicians being grilled. Anyone remember Jana giving it to Sir Joh and instead of answering the questions making legal threats? I know people are more litigious these days, but i think interviews like that could pique interest

It’s a well known belief that politicians don’t rate on early evening current affairs show. I think it was Ray or Jana who mentioned it at the time.

I believe the Jana-Joh interview rated well for a political interview. The interview was later satirised and the Joh impersonator (i believe it was John Walker) presented a Logie for best current affairs program in 1990.

We all love a political scandal from the side opposite

it was also nearly 40 years ago?

I think it was Ray that mentioned that politicians are usually ratings poison

Content aside (its improved and is a show I could easily watch myself), I still think the name is problematic. It has no unique identity to draw people in. It just reads as “more news” since it has the 10 NEWS branding. Blink and you could miss the +.

Not good for a Sunday.

Sunday Project ratings were very variable across the year. The lowest was 159,000 on NYE (technically in this year’s ratings) and at Easter with 169,000. The third lowest was 203,000. The highest rating for a Sunday was its last episode on 335,000 and before that 334,000.

Even compared to Dog House filler that 10 aired last week, 10N+ did worse

DG did 234,000

What name could you give it?

Eyewitness? That links in historically with the 10 brand

10+ means nothing

Evenings - not really descriptive as to what it is

48 Hours Australia - although a recognised brand, would people embrace it?

I think just something simple like ‘10 National News’

10 - 60 Spotlight Minutes :rofl::rofl:

What I find hilarious in this thread, is that a few weeks ago eveyone was in The Project thread saying thank gos it’s gone etc. yet now we have majority saying they should have kept it?

Heaven forbid a lot of you were programmers :joy:

I always thought the focus branding for feature stories the late news used was great.

10 News Focus would be a great name IMO, gravitating away from the crappy naming conventions of Plus, Ultra Max.

They need something more connected with the 10 brand that isn’t news.
I recently discovered a podcast called
Help I sexted my boss which has been going since 2018 and just seems to be building in followers.
Something like this that is different to anything being done that might attract an audience might work and be a cheap alternative
