Agree but there’s still an awkwardness about the interviews and how Denham and Amelia asked the questions.
This croc story is a bit of a confusing mess though.

I think the Croc story is a good example of doing a feature report and then bringing a guest in off the back.
I think Denham is stronger in interviews than Amelia.
Am I going crazy… but did they just have 2 add breaks in less than 2 mins of each other?
Yep - and the program segment was just filled with headlines. The breaks in the show are crazy.
I think this format would work better as a 30 minute show, some of the interviews and stories felt a bit dragged out and slow paced, but then they had a segment that was shorter than the ad breaks surrounding it!
The rundown is terrible.
Some segments are way drawn out and then other segments (or blocks) are way too tight. It shouldn’t be like this 1 week in.
I’d say that’s the next step, 30 mins.
The question is which 30 minutes after 6pm. And what takes the other half.
From tonight’s assessment, there just isn’t enough content to fill the hour.
Terrible rundown tonight.
I disagree. I flicked over (for the first time this week) and saw the croc story. The package was fine; your standard 60 Minutes-style story. But, I don’t think there is a need to do a live interview on the back of a five minute (however long it went for) story. The package covered both perspectives. It felt too drawn out. I ended up switching off after the first few questions I understand that they launched this week, but the show didn’t feel that topical or current given this croc ‘debate’ was in the news a couple of weeks ago.
I agree with some of the other remarks that Denham and Amelia should do and be seen doing the interviews together. Strangely they opted for the alternate question style, which is what The Project did.
Just put a brand new rework of
Studio 10 at 6pm.
Headlines, entertainment , discussion
Nail the hosts.
Keep it light.
So the project that isn’t the project
That’s the crux of the issue
10N+ doesn’t feel like the show that lines up with 10’s younger fun cheeky branding (maybe it can develop as a weekly program, basically being 10’s version 60 Minutes, but it’s certainly not a nightly program for any commercial network, let alone 10’s).
Anything that has suggested (other than conceding the slot to reruns), as to what could work on 10 in the early evening is essentially a version of The Project (lighter tone, with a bit more personality & fun).
Any new brand will have an uphill battle in establishing itself (both in general and in being compared to The Project, if they play in that genre & vibe).
But we would have to doubt that 10 would go back to The Project brand, despite it being familiar (either for perception that the brand is damaged and/or because it’s costly to have an external production house in Roving produce their show).
So what do they do if 10N+ continues to fail?
I would think reboot The Project with that brand with a refreshed core cast, and maybe refreshed Executive Production team too, make sure Mr Social Media Guy is guaranteed his job ), and see what options there are to produce in house (could they licence the format, but have 10 produce it themselves?, could they co-produce, so that the some elements (say news elements) can be produced by 10 News’s team and that they at least partially own the IP?)
I think that would be the best play (or at least the most risk averse way) to rebuild the early evenings for 10 - although I know that opinion may not be the most popular.
It’s a long term prospect that will need patience if that is the direction they are going in. 10 may still have that image of young / different but those days are long gone with the network offering the same demo shows as 7/9 with I’m a Celeb / MasterChef, etc. One could say they have edgier stuff like HYBPA but that is matched by what 9 do with shows like The Hundred. Airport 24/7, Dogs Behaving Very Badly are all examples where the network is going for similar demos as 7 and 9. With young people going to streamers / socials, 10 will be looking for a broader audience. Branding their network on extensive news coverage is not a bad idea but will require a LOT of patience.
I’d say just bite the bullet and extend the local bulletins again, then move 10 News + to 6:30pm.
Could even promote it as 30 minutes of the day’s top stories, then digging a little deeper into the headlines, or something along those lines.
The project doesn’t look too bad compared to the numbers for this. People didn’t realise whatever 10 put here wasn’t going to rate.
I don’t mind the content but I don’t go for tabloid and I like news. But I’m the exception here.
Some of the stories are picking up a few thousand views on socials so if they’re going multi platform and can monetize then they’ll be looking beyond linear numbers.
If I were 10 I would have cut The Project to 30 mins and refreshed it to remove some of the heavier news and politics but keep the comedy/entertainment and chat show vibes, focusing on fun in-studio guests at the desk, and maybe also keep some of the human interest stories.
Then 10 News becomes 90 minute local bulletins but with a few big in-depth national stories that use Denham/Amelia/Hugh/Ursula similar to Sport or Weather presenters. The local anchors would cross or handover to them as special 10 News+ investigative reporters who will introduce and present their in-depth investigation, expand on a big national story of the day and/or feature interview with the PM etc.
Is it me or does Denham squints his eyes so hard??
So what you’re saying is their croc story should have been snappier.
