There is a reason why the big U.S. markets are wall to wall local news, sometimes hardly even touching the network morning and evening news programs.

They’d probably be better off extending the Melbourne news (in Victoria, at least).

Sure are. And it only takes a nation of 350 million and networks with hundreds of millions in news budgets, a network of foreign bureaus, and access to 250 affilate stations to make it watchable and sustainable. And still, in major markets like LA or NY, the network bulletin more often than not has lower viewers than the local bulletin coming before or after it.
None of that is available to Ten nor any other Australian network.

@BJT2 statistics may be on your side - BUT what rates at 6pm? NEWS, everything else picks up the crumbs.

in America? No they’re not, 6pm in the main local news of the night on pretty much every station.
I think he meant 6.30.

Yes all the networks are running a national bulletin at 6.30pm.
Off topic but depends on the network affiliate. Most air it at 6.30 but those in the Central Time Zone (ie- Chicago etc) air them at 5.30 and others will completely preempt it for live sports (especially on weekends).
Better Brace yourself for more high ratings!

Really makes you think why do they need two presenters for this show? Especially with the shortened time.

That split screen shot with Ashleigh. Was that an interview or were they just showing a picture? Because if it’s the second one then I find that such an awful shot. I don’t know what I’m supposed to be looking at. So jarring and distracting.
That was an interview. The split screen only lasted around two seconds before moving back to full-screen Ashleigh.
