Not sure if has been discussed here before but, Bill Hogan left 10 News+ back in October 2025. Now is the Senior Media Reporter for the NSW Police Force.
10 pinched him from 7.. then 5 months later he left.
Just proves how bad the show is when their own employees they lured from rival networks don’t even stay for too long. Who else has went down this rabbithole?
10 News+ aims to spend the next fortnight serving up its strongest shows yet as it desperately tries to steal viewers away from top-rating rival A Current Affair amid Nine’s all-consuming coverage of the Australian Open tennis.
Even though the team behind Ten’s overhyped and underperforming program have repeatedly suggested they won’t stoop to covering tabloid television news stories (perish the thought), network insiders said they had been presented with a golden opportunity to grow the show’s meagre audience with ACA going offline for the two weeks of the Open; and that they had spent weeks diligently working up hard-hitting show rundowns.
This article makes no sense at all. Firstly, the two shows aren’t even in the same time slot so the notion of taking advantage of ACA being off really doesn’t make sense. Secondly, Nine News isn’t going off air at 6pm so why would people who tune in to ACA at 7pm want to sample a show an hour earlier when the news program they usually watch at 6pm is still on?
The biggest issue with the show is Denham Hitchcock. One would think he would improve over time. Unfortunately, he hasn’t. It’s like watching a segment from Fast Forward.
I’m also surprised that Hitchcock is still in the hosting chair. He has sadly not improved. He could have had some “coaching lessons” over the Christmas break to improve… Would he be better going back to reporting for the show, like he did for Seven’s Spotlight?
I see this plan have any merit of trying to steal ACA viewers because the timeslots are different AND even if they screened News+ at 7pm for the next 2 weeks, viewers won’t follow it to 6pm in 2 weeks as they have their set viewing routine at 6pm. Even screening 5-5:30 could damage 10 News First by pushing it back to 5:30 - so really there is no early evening timeslot for it other than the one its getting massacred in. I think 10 would be better devising a different News strategy for the 5pm til 6:30 slot. 10 News+ might be a better fit for an hour from 9:30 til 10:30 Sunday nights
