As an example, I would say the 5.00pm (local news) will focuse on a Canberra (political story) for about 2 min. But 10 News + would most likely show an extended report for say 4 minutes, plus follow up interview etc.
I would imagine each night there will be an exclusive investigation story thrown into the mix.
I think an hour encore between 11pm and midnight would be an even harder sell with this. The only advantage would be if they have the right mix of stories to convince viewers to make the switch.
I donāt think theyāre expecting viewers to sit down and watch for the whole 2 hours. Itāll be something people have on in the background whilst theyāre cooking/eating dinner or doing whatever else.
Here, here. I hate the constant bashing articles towards 10. It was very apparent during the 2022 AFL Broadcast Rights scuffle, and especially ones specifically targeting the program which hasnāt even premiered yet!
Itās so pathetic thereās such a vendetta towards the Network. Yes, as we are well versed, they donāt make the greatest decisions at times. But at least they still try to push the envelope, despite the many setbacks due to management reshuffles in past years/decades.
I love how ambitious and confident the new promo is! Itās good to finally see some promotions beginning, as well as a facelift for both the News service and Network-wide.
Feels a little like the 2018 relaunch all over again! This time, under a new era without The Project being at forefront of it for the first time in 14 years, with the Big Brother revival being a big gamble for them.
Thatās the first thought I had after watching the promo.
What Iām about to say will probably rile up some people but think it needs to be said. The promoās emphasis on truth and facts + Denhamās & Ameliaās philosophical views about journalism is fantastic if 10 News +'s target audience is journalism students and news junkies. However, weāre talking about a program which needs to appeal to a mainstream commercial TV audience who 10 wants to comvince to watch a national news program at 6pm rather than local news. The promo doesnāt do anything substantive to provide a USP for those viewers.
I donāt think anyone who already watches the local news will be tempted to switch over. The idea is probably more to keep those who currently watch The Project.
I never thought this was 10ās target - more like appealing to an audience not as serious as the ABC and not as tabloid as your 7 and 9s. Perhaps wonāt set the world on fire but they know their niche and if they pitch and execute it right could pick up some more viewers from the rivals.
I think the idea is to give people what they largely want at 6 (news) at a lower cost than The Project
It Will come third - as has everything 10 has put at 6 for 25 years . But hopefully be a quality product and attract a decent following and help put the 10 News brand a little more firmly in peopleās minds
regardless of where it will rate, I reckon itās good to have something like this - especially at a time when 9 and 7 are becoming more sensationalised by the day
The red logo looks pretty bad. Surprised theyāre ditching the 10News First brand as it actually makes sense now as the first hour in their news block. Wonder if the 5pm block will become more local?
Itās a big enough challenge as it is getting people to tune in to a new national bulletin at 6pm but presumably in Perth itāll be a couple of hours out of date. Concentrating on long form and investigative reporting may make that less of a problem but wonder if they have the ability to go live into Perth if the news cycle calls for it.
