Ten News (Regional NSW/ACT/Vic/QLD/TAS)

Is TDT being produced by Ten in Hobart or Seven in Launceston?

I’m probably reading into it a bit but the wipes used in the updates sounded different.

Technically it’s Seven in Hobart, as the SCA half of the licence was not sold to Ten, but was sold to Seven.

WIN appear to still be doing the updates in NNSW, but they have been sent the new look. (I have no idea why the picture is discoloured.)

So will WIN still retain the old background for news in other areas? I presume WIN still have the green screen?

Interesting. I wonder if/when Hobart will take control of these updates?

We are (I think) the only area where WIN does news on the 10 channel. Their other news areas are all 9, and remain known as WIN News.

Probably after 10 takes over NRTV in a few days.

Not sure why we get all the “reminds me of…” comments all the time. We’re at the stage where nothing is really ever going to be absolutely unique.. there’s only so many shapes, colours, animations and graphic combinations really without something being at least a little like something else.

Nice that Northern NSW & Gold Coast updates have adopted the new look

Tasmania still using old package this evening. Go figure.

It lives on!

Would be nice if they took the extra steps to localise this adding local imagery, city / area name and area name to bug. And a local weather flipper.

Localism works. These feel very generic and almost national in nature.

So let me get my head around this. Before launch day (today) channel 10 sent elements from there new graphics pkg to channel 7.

Correct?
Man I love regional tv

10 are now in control (AFAIK) of the studio facilities at Hobart - what was SCA’s Seven operations are now, to my understanding, moving out.

Seven has nothing to do with this operation anymore. It’s completely run by 10 in Hobart.

Maybe if they had the guts to introduce new local bulletins then possibly. They would have to replace the 5pm Sydney news and run for an hour. It could work.

If they’re so committed to local news, then, well, get on with it. They would have to think carefully about where to launch them. I’d say Regional VIC first. With WIN being statewide bulletins, launch new local 1-hour bulletins for Ballarat/Western VIC, Bendigo/Central VIC, Shepparton/Goulburn Valley, Traralgon/Gippsland, and of course, Mildura/Sunraysia.

Then how about Canberra in the ACT. CTC is Canberra’s original commercial TV station and is now a Network 10 station these days, so introduce a 1-hour bulletin to Canberra under the 10 News banner and it could work. Local news, national news, international news, as well as sport and local weather.

If they do it right, this could be the start of something bigger for 10. Though I’d imagine most of our members here will think my ideas are nonsensical and I’m talking up some random theory.

What Mildura? I like the rest of your idea, but MDT shut ages ago now, and if 10 wanted the licence they would have got it by now.
