The update during the lunchtime news ended in ‘bye bye for now’. Well, can’t say I’ve heard that as a sign off before…

At least they’re using overlay footage finally, the first couple of days of updates were frankly really poor quality, especially coming from 10’s Sydney newsroom.

I do wonder if at some point they’ll use whomever is rostered on for the Lunchtime news to pre-record/present the local updates. Would allow the other staff more time to write/produce them.

I’ve heard it before, can’t remember where though. Seems pleasant enough. At least it’s not this…

“Bye bye for now”

“Do-do-do-do… Nice work, everyone! Sharp broadcast. Really good.”

Stacy did the updates from 2pm onward.

I wonder if they are updated throughout the day rather than all being filmed at once. Also, has anyone seen any Evening Updates yet?

they’re done in batches.

She moves her head too much its distracting

Yes, a little more training/coaching from the network wouldn’t go astray.

The updates I saw late last week were at least an improvement on earlier in the week.

agreed… full appreciating that these updates are fronted by young journos just starting out… but often feels like they are doing an impression of a news reader and overdoing all the cliches.

Why pay market rates and have to supervise someone when you could pay the same rate and not have to ‘coach’ talent… They’re not ITV who owns a whole network of production companies around the world and has a quite impressive training program, the networks here would think it’s cheaper to let the ABC train people up because the taxpayer funds them

they’re in metro newsrooms now, there are producers and presenters around. Get Sandra and Jen to sit down with each for ten minutes and give some tips. There are no excuses now.

Saw the 11:20 pm Ten News update tonight for Bendigo and no local news the opening story was about storm water drains upgrades in Shepparton followed by generic story about interest rates.

Possibly inserted the wrong update if those areas don’t overlap? But, yes, those ‘national’ stories dressed up as local stories (eg: interest rates or whatever statewide/national survey has just been released) generally shouldn’t count towards local quota when it’s no more than ‘insert region name here’ was impacted by interest rates today.

It was the right update the presenter started off intruducing it as this is your Bendigo news. The markets do normally overlap but Shepparton is the main centre of that market and it was a hyper local story that even Shepparton residence would find boring, irrelevant or non news worthy and certainly only deserved a quick 5 second mention at best.

The interest rate story also started off saying resedence in the South West which does not match the local viewing area either. It was sloppy all round.

Does Shepparton get their own updates from 10 or are they lumped in with Albury these days. Maybe they mixed up Shepparton for Swan Hill lol

Are these WIN produced? They’re very boring.

Yes. Note the WIN weather graphics in some of them

The track underscoring the update is quite loud, would be worth them turning it down slightly

That Bo Jeong is so monotone and robotic.
