Ten News (Regional NSW/ACT/Vic/QLD/TAS)

‘to our lead story today…’

what an odd thing to say.

It looks like a screen IMO given the way the OTS looks.

Regional Victoria updates still being presented by Sarah

This is coming out of Melbourne now?

Regional Victoria and QLD updates come from Melbourne, while Southern NSW + ACT updates come from Sydney

Is NNSW still WIN-made?

Surprised they don’t set up a green screen and a desk in there at some point down the road.
It’ll double as a boost to the QLD news team as well

Wouldn’t surprise me if they choose to do this and go down the same route as Melbourne.
Depends if they can justify the cost.
The current set was makeshift anyway just to get the bulletin to air.

Can’t say I agree. The new static image with a logo smacked on the side cheapens the look for me.

It also looks nothing like what we see in metro presentation.

The room does need more sound proofing.

The same space ATV do their live crosses.

Yep!

That may be possible down the track. The resources we get now are better than the Hobart days.

Presumably because they don’t have their own control room they’d still need Melbourne or Sydney to assemble the updates. So presenting in Brisbane would just add extra hassle with minimal benefit.

Those updates seem perfectly fine for what they are - decent amount of vision, good presenting and not having the issues with pacing that some local updates have trying to cram into 60 seconds. I’d say better than (Prime) Seven’s updates.

I dunno if they’d even be on air right now, but did Bendigo or the other regional Vic updates have any updates on the bushfire situation. Would be a chance to see if they were able to leverage the reporters Ten will have in those areas covering it for the Melbourne news.

They’ve just shown one, and unless the Win weather graphics have been sent to Sydney, i’d say they still are. Gold also still on air here.

Who presented the update?

I don’t know. Win doesn’t have the lower third and they don’t say their names.

I’m surprised 10 didn’t move the Northern NSW updates to Sydney tbh

It may still be part of the plan given a little more time.

The SCA 10 stations were acquired 10 months ago and the updates have only now moved over, NNSW was acquired from WIN 8 months ago.

Will be interesting to see where we’re at in 2 months’ time.

The ex-SCA stations would have been the priority given they were coming out of Hobart from facilities they were on the brink of being kicked out of. WIN producing the NNSW updates is more stable to makes sense to move what they have to, sort out any teething problems and then worry about moving NNSW.

Apologies i am not keeping up with this and have a shocking memory but didn’t Ten just buy the Hobart facility or were they just renters?

Renting. The facility is primarily for the SCA radio stations and essentially just had a small TV studio in the corner. Ten took over the staff producing their bulletins, but with the separation from the rest of their network and no actual operations in Tasmania it was never going to stay there long term.

Caspar McLeod presenting the updates in Canberra today. But bizarrely, there was a super for Stacey Eldridge - 10 NEWS on screen.
